Tottenham Hotspur haven’t won a trophy since they lifted the Carling Cup back in 2009 and have been pushing ever since with them coming close on a couple of occasions. However, this year might just be there year as they seem to be firing on all cylinders and currently top the Premier League. Is this year going to be the year for Spurs to lift the coveted Premier League trophy for the first time; below we investigate further.

One of the main factors as to why we think that Tottenham might be in with a shout for the Premier League title this year is down to having Jose Mourinho in the dugout. This is the first time that Tottenham have had a manager that has won trophies elsewhere, and Mourinho is the king of that as he has won trophies everywhere, he has gone; including 3 Premier League trophies. This experience are hard-ball football that Jose brings is certainly the type of manager that they have needed.
Furthermore, Tottenham have one of the deadliest strike forces not just in the Premier League but in world football with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son. In fact this season, Kane and Son have combined for goals and assists 11 times and if they continue to play like this, the deadly duo could certainly fire them to the title. In comparison to all-time Premier League top partnerships, only Drogba and Lampard have more than them with 36 compared to their 31.

And finally, and potentially more importantly, this Spurs side actually look like winners for the first time in a long time. Tottenham have often been labelled as “bottlers” but this year, probably instilled into them from Jose that they must win and must work for each other and they are clearly investing in his philosophy. Spurs looked like a broken side at the end of Pochettino’s era but Mourinho seems to have reunited the squad and could be onto something special. We can’t wait to see what can happen this season and will hopefully end with Hugo Lloris getting his hands on the Premier League.
