Kane gonna cane our emotions

How on earth has hating Harry Kane united the fanbase?

Sigh.

Also, what are the details of this story? Do we not deserve to know them? If Kane always planned to return tomorrow, why did we get so many leaks and accompanying silence from the club?

There’s more to this but right now, it doesn’t feel like Kane is innocent. As for professional? Debatable. 

To sum it up, he has lost all the respect he has built up. That’s pretty wild, right? Hence why I’m caught between emotions. Because I don’t quite want to believe it. I don’t want to tarnish MY memories of him.

Meanwhile Pep and City are signing Jack Grealish for £100M and giving him a quite ridiculous amount of money to win cups at a canter. I get why professional players see clubs like City as the end game. Success is pretty much guaranteed. 

City are a madness too. Spending whilst pretending they can’t spend money. I guess they’re enjoying themselves but cautiously. But the rest of us? I wouldn’t mind having a bit of fun like not sure I’d fancy a flutter on what happens next, I prefer the odds over at BetMGM.

It’s an easy life (you still need to graft because of the elite competition for places) and the money is just too much to turn down. But there is no soul. No real connection with adversity. And sure, always losing isn’t a great feeling but it’s pure and honest. And yes, Spurs and other clubs have spent millions too but not in a way where it diminishes competition. 

Kane is returning to training whilst Spurs are doing bits with finally announcing the player Messi wanted at Barcelona; Cristian Romero.

Pep is showing himself up to be the absolute golden hypocrite, crying about Spurs not being open to negotiations but if Spurs were, they would negotiate. At a cut price though right? Dick head.

Am I knee-jerking if I say that it’s better that Kane just goes?

It’s what he wants, so why are we mucking around with holding him back from his ambitions? The paradox is that if he was upfront and honest then perhaps he could still have bagged his move and we would have settled with targeting Levy as per the protest energy from earlier in the summer.

Not our fault that he signed a six year contract, though. Not our fault that a gentleman’s agreement is nothing more than mythology. Good intentions work both ways – so something must have gone badly wrong for them, us, to end up here. 

The game is broken. We know that. Our club is not innocent, post-European Super League debacle. In a perverse way, we want to compete and yet know we won’t be able to until we’re paying similar wages to what City dish out. Then what? We become the very thing that we hate? The very thing that Kane wants to join. But how desperate are we for success? Are we willing to sacrifice it all to be competitive to their level? 

Kane wants to. 

I don’t. I’ll never be accepting of it.
