After enduring a miserable 2022/23 season, Tottenham Hotspur fans could have been forgiven for looking ahead to the current campaign with trepidation.

However, the summer appointment of manager Ange Postecoglou changed the dynamic, with the affable Australian quickly instilling his high-octane style of play on the team.

Spurs soared to the top of the Premier League table after ten games, but injuries and suspensions have scuppered their hopes of mounting a sustained title challenge.

However, a top-four finish is still feasible and would undoubtedly be the perfect platform to build from next season.

With that in mind, we analyse four signings that could complete the Tottenham puzzle and transform them from pretenders to contenders.

Evan Ferguson – Brighton & Hove Albion

Tottenham faced a monumental challenge when they lost striker Harry Kane over the summer and opted not to sign anyone to replace him.

The England captain bagged 280 goals during his time with the club, and replacing his goalscoring ability is no easy task.

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson emerged as a potential replacement for Kane after helping the club qualify for the Europa League for the first time in history last season.

The Republic of Ireland star is an archetypal striker who combines lethal finishing with excellent hold-up play. He uses his imposing frame to win aerial duels.

His supply line at Tottenham would increase his output. Playing alongside Heung-min Son and James Maddison would make him a good bet for the Golden Boot.

Tottenham signing Ferguson would unquestionably spark interest from Irish punters using the best gambling apps to bet on the young striker to spearhead his side to a title challenge.

His arrival would inject much-needed firepower into Tottenham’s attack, potentially transforming them into genuine title contenders.

With his raw talent, Postecoglou’s attacking style and the perfect supporting cast, the young Irishman could be the missing piece in Tottenham’s quest for glory.

Conor Gallagher – Chelsea

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher. If they can snap him up from their rivals, it would be a magnificent coup.

Gallagher has been Chelsea’s best player this season, outshining Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez in Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield.

He is the only player in Europe’s top five leagues this season with 20+ shots, 20+ chances created, 20+ dribbles completed, and 20+ touches in the opposition box. He has also recorded 20+ tackles and 20+ interceptions.

The 23-year-old makes 5.87 progressive passes (70th percentile) and 2.20 progressive carries (80th percentile). He is a double-edged sword that adds steel and grit to Tottenham’s centre while having the ability to produce in the final third.

All these metrics and qualities will only have you scratching your head as to why Chelsea are willing to accept offers north of £50 million for Gallagher.

This is what happens when a club makes silly transfer decisions – they must now balance the books by selling their good players.

Chelsea have more money than sense and Tottenham should take advantage of their short-sightedness to sign Gallagher, who has 18 months left on his contract.

Pedro Goncalves – Sporting CP

Sporting CP attacker Pedro Goncalves has unfinished business in the Premier League and could potentially transform Spurs into genuine title contenders.

Goncalves struggled with Wolverhampton Wanderers before they shipped him off to Portugal – initially to Familicao before he found the perfect nesting place with Lisbon giants Sporting CP.

The 25-year-old has thrived back in his home country, performing exceedingly well and earning a call-up to a stacked Portuguese national team.

Goncalves dovetails as a mix between a winger, attacking midfielder and supporting striker along the lines of Spurs captain and talisman Son.

His Sporting teammate Viktor Gyokeres has been in the news for his exploits, but the diminutive Portuguese attacker has also been doing nicely.

Goncalves has netted five goals and four assists this term to add to the 15 goals and 11 assists he tallied last season. He would be a useful addition to Tottenham’s squad.

The Sporting star is an intelligent player who picks up brilliant positions between the lines and has the end product to back up his subtle play.

Jean-Clair Todibo – Tottenham

Tottenham have been linked with OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo but face competition from Manchester United and Chelsea.

If Spurs can pip their Premier League rivals to his signature, he could be a transformative addition to their squad.

Todibo is playing the best football of his career, sweeping behind Francesco Farioli’s stingy defence that has only conceded nine goals in 17 Ligue 1 matches.

While it is tempting to think that Nice play a conservative brand of football, their style is expansive as they apply high pressure – the difference-maker is their well-drilled backline.

Todibo is the sweeper for his more aggressive and experienced partner, Dante. The French international wins 59% of his duels and has helped his side keep eight clean sheets.

Aside from his defensive prowess, Todibo has also earned plaudits for his ability on the ball. He can thread pinpoint passes through the lines, helping his team to start attacks from the back.

With suspension and injury woes hampering Cristian Romero’s progress, Todibo could be the perfect partner for Micky van de Ven in the centre of defence.

He could provide the calm Tottenham’s backline desperately needs, bringing a more measured approach than Romero.

Todibo has the potential to be one of the best defenders of his generation and could fulfil that promise while helping Spurs mount a title challenge.

Pedro Goncalves brings an interesting attacking dimension, reminiscent of Son, while Jean-Clair Todibo’s defensive prowess could solidify Spurs’ backline and enhance their title-chasing credentials.
