Pape Matar Sarr

Sarr joined the Spurs in 2021 when he was signed from Metz. Antonio Conte believed he still needed more regular game time, though. So, he was loaned back to Metz. Sarr appeared only occasionally during last year’s campaign. The midfielder has a much more central position (pun intended) for Postecoglou, who values both his technique and thoughtful style. 

Alejo Véliz

Young talents don’t come cheap, and the Argentinian Alejo Véliz is a prime example. The 13-million-pound striker joined the club last year after leaving Rosario Central. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen him at his best yet. Nevertheless, he’s a quick and clever player and an impressive performance in the air. 

Brennan Johnson

Brennan Johnson was brought from the Tricky Trees for GBP 40 million. Understandably, expectations about the Welsh winger are high. Brennan Johnson has been plagued by injuries, though. However, he’s a real game-changer when playing at his best. Last season, he was the second-fastest player, reaching an impressive 22.8mph. The 22-year-old player has youth and passion playing on his side and should be back to the top of his game soon.    

Micky Van De Ven

The Dutch player was signed by the Lillies last year for GBP 34.5 million. While the 22-year-old centre-back was on Wolfsburg’s defensive lineup, the team suffered 10 goals in 11 games. After Micky’s injury, the negative stats went up by seven conceded goals in three games.

Radu Dragusin

The 21-year-old Romanian centre-back is the club’s only permanent signing of the last transfer window. He was playing for the Italian top-flight team, Genoa. The deal with the Italian club was signed for GBP 21.5 million plus add-ons. Dragusin is a flexible player with a record of adapting well and quickly to very different playing styles. 

Endgame 

Official EPL stats point out that teams that had such a successful start of the season are bound to finish Top 4. Yet, Ange Postecoglou resists predictions and refuses to talk about campaign targets. The club has reinforced its lineup with some pretty young and expensive names, but there are still a couple of key games ahead. As long as our rising stars live up to the expectations surrounding them, fans won’t need to worry about predictions.
