What Spurs Players Will Be Involved In The Euros & Copa América
Spurs are usually very well represented on the international scene. However, this year has been a bit downer, with only seven players being involved in the Euros and Copa América.
On the bright side, it will be a boost to Ange, who will enjoy a very fresh set of players during pre-season. This is much preferable to players joining in late due to their international duties.
Nevertheless, we still get to enjoy more than a handful of Spurs players this summer. As many are looking for the best bookies not on gamstop to back their favourites, we look to what Spurs players might be playing as a way to help decide what games to watch. Though, realistically, many of us will be watching anything and everything…
Euros 2024 Involvement
The Euros kicks off this Friday, where Germany plays Scotland.
Pierre-Emile Højbjerg will be playing for Denmark and is a regular first-teamer, having just played in their final pre-tournament friendly against Norway, where they won 1-0.
Mickey van de Ven plays left back regularly for the Netherlands, who will play their first game of the tournament against Poland on Sunday. However, with Ake sometimes preferred and sometimes playing 5 at the back, the Dutch team is regularly rotating.
Guglielmo Vicario will be with the reigning Euro champions as a second-choice keeper.
Romania will face Ukraine in their opening fixture on Monday, in which Radu Drăgușin will be a core part of the back four.
Although Tottenham has many international fans, plenty of England fans will get behind Harry Kane this summer, who holds the key to England’s chances of winning – and will no doubt be racing for the Golden Boot again. In so far as recent Tottenham news, it appears the involved players are all match fit.
Copa América Involvement
Copa América is being played in and around the US this summer, starting at a similar time to the Euros too.
Rodrigo Bentancur will be joining the Uruguay squad, which has racked up 59 caps already at the age of 26. Uruguay’s first game will be against Panama on the 24th of June, where Uruguay remain firm favourites to top the group despite having the at-home US in the same group.
That leaves us with Argentina, the reigning Copa América and World Cup winners. In the Argentinian squad are Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso, both of whom are likely to start. Argentina plays its opening game against Canada on June 21st, and it is the favourite to win the entire tournament. However, without Messi, it will look to other players for new leadership.
Although it’s thinner than usual, Ange will look forward to having a relatively fresh squad come the 17th of July, when Spurs play Hearts just three days after the Euros final. Then, it’s straight to Japan, followed by a double-header against Kane’s Bayern Munich, in which Vincent Kompany will get to grips with his new team.
