4 More Signings Tottenham Need Before They Can Challenge For A Title

Who do we need?

In January of this year, we made a post about four signings Spurs could make to get us closer to the title and in an unfortunate turn of events, we have made zero of them! So, now 9 months later, we are in a new season and with our start to the season not being as strong as we had once hoped, I think looking forward to January could be our best bet.

Coming into this season, we made some great signings and a lot of bookies around the UK had us pushing for top four and all of us bit into this idea and thought it would happen too. Now, we are only 7 games into the season and we could still push for those Champions League spots, but it is looking bleak.

The Left Back Position

Since Ange’s appointment, we have seen Udogie become one of the best left-backs in the world and if there was a ranking of the best left-backs in the world, like how Hideous Slots rates and ranks the UK’s top 20 online casinos, he would easily be in the top ten, if not top 5. When the Spurs signed him. It felt like a gamble to put this much pressure on a young kid to hold down the left-back position but it has worked excellently.

However, he is our only out-and-out left back and we need some good depth for him, so signing a backup left back is essential. There are a few options but I think a realistic one is Ben Chilwell.

The ex-Chelsea vice-captain has had a tough time since Maresca took over and has seemingly been banished from the squad. Because Chelsea are eager to sell him, we could snatch him up for cheap and then we have a strong backup for Udogie who has a lot of experience and a good relationship with Madders.

Giorgio Scalvini

Scalvini is a player that we have been on the hunt for for a few years now and it’s not hard to understand why. He has the potential to be one of the best defenders in the world and he also fits Ange’s playstyle to a T. He would be the perfect defensive singing that we could make because he’s young, he’s perfect for how we play and he has incredible potential.

There are a few worries for this signing and they are his price and who he is wanted by. Scalvini isn’t a secret, he is well-known by a lot of clubs and there are a range of clubs after him. Because of this Atalanta feels like they can price him up and because our defensive partnership is so strong, he probably wouldn’t join and instantly start which would be a reason for him not to join us.

Ederson

Another Atalanta player, Ederson is another player that we have had on our radar for a few windows now and it feels like a signing that just makes sense. Ederosn is a 25-year-old defensive midfielder who is known for his constant availability and progressive playstyle.

Ederson loves getting the ball and playing it forward and he does it to great effect, not only this but he has a high work rate and incredible tackling. His performance in the Europa League Final against Bayer Leverkusen highlighted these attributes which makes him perfect for an Ange team.

He is our dream defensive midfielder signing and we should be throwing everything we can at Atalanta to get this deal over the line and solidify our midfield positions.

The Attacking Midfield Position

James Maddison this season has not been great and I have even seen some fans calling for him to be dropped. Despite this, we have seen Kulusevski step up at times and play in the ten role really well. But even with this, I think we should be looking for a player who can cover in the ten role and on the wings. We have been linked with Eze and I do believe that we will get him.

However, I want to be more interesting and go for a dream signing and personally, I think Brahim Diaz would be an incredible option for us and he feels like a perfect fit. He is similar to Maddison but offers something different and with his Manchester City youth career, his passing of the ball will be just what Ange is looking for.  Overall, he would be my dream option and the signing I would push for if I was in Levy’s shoes.
