Who are the main contenders to replace ‘Big Ange’ if he leaves?

Ange Postecoglou once again finds himself under immense pressure following Tottenham’s exits from the Carabao Cup and FA Cup respectively.

A heavy 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, which they led following a 1-0 win at home, saw many fans frustrated with not just the result, but the manner of the loss.

Spurs followed that up by being knocked out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa, which leaves only the Europa League available for the Australian to deliver on his promise of a trophy in his second season.

It is pretty clear listening to fan sentiment that it might not be Postecoglou that they want to go, but sat in an underwhelming 14th, and with only one cup competition to play for, Daniel Levy may feel the need to pull the trigger and look elsewhere.

So who are the main contenders to replace ‘Big Ange’ if he leaves? You can find the best bookmakers and betting tips with FIRST.com, and they’ve helped us take a look at some of the bookies’ favourites to replace the Spurs manager.

Andoni Iraola has emerged as one of the best managers in the Premier League after his controversial appointment in 2023, where many people were shocked that he was chosen to replace Gary O’Neil.

However, the Spaniard has proven to be a complete upgrade, building Bournemouth into a top-six-chasing team, with exciting attacking play and a solid backline.

Spurs have a generally young team, and the case studies of Antoine Semenyo, Justin Kluivert and Dean Huijsen show how much Iraola can improve his players, and that may be of interest to Levy and co.

At 4/1 he sits on top of the list, but is joined by Thomas Frank, who shares the same odds.

The Brentford manager has seen the London club rise from the Championship and become a mainstay Premier League side.

Incredibly hard to beat at home, Frank has made the Bees a tough team to play no matter where you face them, and Spurs have missed the resoluteness that the Danish manager has provided.

If Levy wants to make a romantic move, then he could be reunited with the man who took Spurs to their maiden Champions League final, Mauricio Pochettino, who is 5/1.

Now the USA head coach ahead of hosting the 2026 World Cup, he spent last season at London rivals Chelsea, and after a tough start guided them to sixth place before parting ways. Could he be tempted back to north London?

At 8/1, Kieran McKenna and Marco Silva are potential outsider replacements for Postecoglou, and both are currently employed by Premier League clubs.

McKenna, who has links with Tottenham dating back to his brief playing and early coaching career, has had a tough time adjusting to the top-flight following back-to-back promotions with Ipswich, but his counter-attacking style of football could be more suited to a stronger squad of players.

Silva has resurrected his career at Fulham, seeing them in contention for the European places, and his more balanced approach would certainly be adaptable to a Spurs team who are used to Postecoglou’s high-pressing style.

Edin Terzic (10/1) and Max Allegri (16/1) are managers at different ends of their careers, but judging by the odds, it looks like Tottenham will look towards their Premier League rivals for their next manager.
