This is very much a two-horse race,

Save Manchester City and Crystal Palace, it’s now seven games left till the curtains draw on the 2025/26 Premier League season. And even though Arsenal currently sits atop the league with a nine-point difference, it is still far from decided. In fact, with the fixtures that are still left to play, there is a very real possibility that everything eventually comes down to the last game on May 24.

But as usual, different predictions and analyses have been flying around on who will eventually take home the crown. Of course, there isn’t much to choose between, because it’s essentially a two-horse race between City and Arsenal at this point. But away from analysis, predictions, and opinions, let’s take a look at what the odds are saying. Who do the bookmakers have as favorites to win this 2025/26 Premier League title?

Breaking Down the Title Race: A Brief Analysis of the Top Teams

Of course, this is very much a two-horse race, with the other teams largely competing to consolidate their top-four positions. But regardless, let’s break down each of these teams, starting with the main contenders, Arsenal and Manchester City.

Arsenal

Statistically, Arsenal only needs 16 points to win the league if Manchester City wins all of its remaining games. So from the seven games left, they need to win at least five and draw one game.

But then, one of the remaining seven games is against Manchester City on April 19. And that, of course, is the most decisive game in this title race. If they manage to win, the pressure of City’s chase will reduce significantly, and they will only need 10 more points from the other six matches. That’s just three wins and a draw.

But apart from City, Arsenal also has a couple of other relatively tough fixtures. They still have a game against Newcastle United and Fulham. They also have one against West Ham United, who are currently battling relegation. That game will not be an easy one, because WestHam are very much desperate for points.

Manchester City

With a game in hand, City currently has eight games to play this season. However, unlike Arsenal, their destiny is not entirely up to them. They need Arsenal to lose points if they want to win. The only game where they can, to an extent, decide their fate is the one against Arsenal. They won the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal a few days ago. If they can repeat that, then they will be putting a lot of pressure on Arteta’s boys. And knowing their history with pressure, it wouldn’t be wrong to say Pep’s Manchester City has a real chance if that happens.

Of course, like Arsenal, City also has a couple of other tough features along the way. In fact, with games against Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Brentford still left to play, they have a tougher run of features compared to Arsenal. But then, history has shown that Pep’s team thrives in these kinds of moments. And if that’s an indication, they could very much win all their remaining games.

Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Liverpool

There’s a 15-point gap between third-place Manchester United and Arsenal. So it’s safe to say that Manchester United, alongside Aston Villa, and Liverpool, are not really in the title race at this point.

However, to an extent, Aston Villa can still directly influence how everything turns out. They still have a game at Etihad, and if they manage to win, it’s as good as handing the title over to Arsenal. And since they are also fighting to keep their top four spot, they will not give City an easy game. As it stands, they are in fourth place, and are just one point behind third-placed Manchester United. However, both United and Villa still have to face fifth-place Liverpool in one of their final seven fixtures.

In summary, the third and fourth league places seem a little secure for United and Villa. But Liverpool still has a chance as they are only five points away from Villa. So the race is still very much open and may come down to the last game of the season.

EPL Relegation Battle

You cannot talk about the EPL this season and not mention the relegation battle currently going on. And a good reason for that is because a heavyweight like Tottenham is also in that battle, currently 17th on the table. The team has not won a single EPL game in 2026. And the seven games that they have left are not beds of roses. In fact, they still have to face Aston Villa and Chelsea. But at this point, it’s really not about who they face again, as they’ve even lost to even weaker teams.

The team has gone ahead to bring De Zerbi on board, and he will be in charge of the remaining games. Hopefully, he can help get just enough wins to stay afloat.

Conclusion

At this point in the season, it’s just a two-horse race between Arsenal and Manchester City. Arsenal has seven games left, and only 16 points needed, and is considered a favorite by bookmakers. City, on the other hand, is right behind, with eight games left to play. Everything may end up getting decided on game day 38.
