Thelonious goes to Fulham

Every now and then The Fighting Cock’s own Thelonious Filth travels around the British Isles following the mighty Lilywhites. When he travels he takes his recorder. This is what he’s got for you. BANG. Thelonious goes to Fulham

I’ve applied for Redknapp’s Job

By Sibs (SibsTHFC) Dear Mr Levy, I am writing to you regarding the position of Manager of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. Between heart operations, the tax man and the England job it’s only a matter of time before Mr. Redknapp absconds/leaves, and I would like to get my application in early for consideration. I’d imagine that Mark Hughes has as well, and that Martin O’Neill – he’s always sniffing around. Anyway, you’re a busy man so lets get down to brass tacks. My managerial experience is based largely on my successful promotion of Boston United promoted from the Conference to... Read more »

The Fighting Cockerels – Spurs During The War Years

By Sibs (SibsTHFC) On the outbreak of the First World War in 1915, many Spurs players and staff were recruited to form No 1 Section 22 Field Company, Royal Engineers. They had played football together, enlisted into the army together, fought side by side together and, sadly, eleven of them died together. After the war the Spurs Handbook recorded the 11 deaths. On the combined effort to achieve victory in the great game of war we can look with solemn pride. Naturally, our thoughts revert to those who fought and fell. It is rather a long list who made the... Hash tag Davroatemyhamster

By Sibs (SibsTHFC) It all started out harmlessly enough. A few lads asking for a simple retweet from Spurs player and ‘celebrity’ fans. Every retweet would help spread the word about The Fighting Cock podcast and in turn capture a few more Spurs fan who have grown weary of the ‘other’ podcasts available. A few people responded to the request. These people we love. They have gone up in our estimation and we thank them for their support. One man simply ignored all requests for a retweet. Davro. Impressionist, comedian and, in this case, pantomime villain. Little did he know... Read more »

Is this the Tottenham Whisper?

Masses of thanks to Simon B for this email that goes some way to perhaps giving us an indication of what the Tottenham Whisper is all about. If you’re wondering yourself, check out Episode 4 of The Fighting Cock podcast and ‘The Tottenham Miscellany’ by Martin Cloake and Adam Powley. First up great work on the podcasts. I have garnered many a strange look while grinning to myself when listening to them through headphones about the town. I admit to being a bit late to the Fighting cock Podcast Party, only starting to listen from Podcast 10 I have since... Read more »

We’re gonna win the league!

By Sibs (SibsTHFC) It’s rare that we genuinely have something to brag about, but in the last 7 games we really do. The official Premier League form guide doesn’t lie – we are level with Man City, and 4 points ahead of the Scum in the last 6 games. With the games we have coming up I don’t think this unbeaten run is going to stop just yet either. Usually I would not mutter such gravities for fear of jinxing something, or having to eat my words next weekend, but we can go unbeaten for another 6 games – until we play... Read more »

Stratford – a view from across the pond

By Mike Stevenson (mikeinparma) 6 November, 1995. Cleveland, Ohio. The NFL’s Cleveland Browns were losing revenue in the outdated and crumbling Municipal Stadium, nor were they receiving any civic support to renovate, owner Art Modell announced he and the Browns were leaving in the following season. And not 10 miles east into Euclid, but rather 311 miles to Baltimore, Maryland. It was a truly devastating moment. I had lost the team I grew up supporting. We were left empty handed, while the new team in Baltimore got a new stadium and quickly won the title that we in Cleveland had been craving... Read more »

God Save the King

The following is an email exchange IAmJustAli had with the Club. Dear Mr Levy, Firstly I would like to congratulate you on the progression the club has made under your stewardship. We have made huge strides, from being a club that I used to get unbelievable stick for supporting in the 1990s, to being able to hand it out to others over the last few years. The Champions League run was a huge achievement, and there is no shame in missing out to Man City’s endless pot of gold this season. I am not lucky enough to possess a season... Read more »
