Thank you Harry Redknapp – A retrospective

If Harry Redknapp was to leave tomorrow for the England job, I don’t think a single Spurs fan would begrudge him for it. If he leaves now, or in the summer, or even next summer, he will be a hero in my books. He’s given me my first good memories of Spurs, bar the rare exception, and for that I could not thank him enough. It started in October 2008 with two of the best memories I have as a Spurs fan – the last minute winner by Super Pav vs Liverpool and that 4-4 at the Emirates. These two... Read more »

Our story begins in August 2002, (queue flashback music)… My wife and I honeymooned in London and each night did a little pub crawl of our own, going to different parts of London, hanging out and drinking pints. A couple of nights while we were there, soccer was on TV, there was this team with a odd name, called Arsenal on the TV. We watched a couple of matches that week, had some pints and fun, finished the honeymoon flew back to the States and never thought twice about it… Now flash-forward (queue music), Summer / Fall 2010… 8 years... The things we do

After the win against Bolton in the Fabrice Muamba tribute replay I spent the rest of the week looking forward to Swansea. That said I knew I had to get past the moving house on the Saturday before the game. I figured that there is a pub near the new gaff so I’d be all right. Plans are great but having a baby with gymnastics coach means that from time to time you get roped in to ‘helping out’. Cue Friday night’s conversation. Long story short guess who’s getting up at twenty past five in the morning of the Swansea... Read more »

Sit down if you love Tottenham

According to the urban dictionary, “an armchair fan is someone that claims to have a huge interest in a team they very rarely watch and when they do watch it’s on the television.” It is often used as an insult, but I’d like to give my view on why that is not always a fair assessment of the fan in question. In the old days, supporting a football club was a very local matter. Football clubs recruited their fans based on the geographical location of their ground, because even if you became a fan of a club by family ties... Read more »

5 Reasons Why Kyle Walker Is Spurs’ Player Of The Season

As we approach the final throes of the 2011/12 season, whatever it may bring in the North London title race, thoughts turn to who will inherit Luka Modric’s crown as Tottenham Hotspur’s player of the season. Despite Gareth Bale’s PFA plaudits, the little Croatian thoroughly deserved the honour, leading to a summer of “will he stay or will he go” when Abramovich came sniffing. I feel GB should be denied the trophy this season – although at times he has been the lynchpin of what has made us wonderful at times this season, he has also embodied us at our... Read more »

Brand new Spurs supporter from Cincinnati, OH, USA. 31 years of age. I apologize right away for being new, for being a yank and for my use of American English. I played football growing up until my knees were in too poor of shape to continue. I’ve always had love for the game, but until recently my circumstances had made it difficult to follow anything beyond international competitions and MLS. Thankfully all of that has changed. American television networks are making an increased commitment to football, and now I can get pretty much any game that matters on TV at... Read more »

Clearing the hurdles

If one thing has been made clear by Spurs’ late-season drama, it’s that Tottenham’s impressive starting XI is being propped up by a group of squad players that leaves a lot to be desired. Now don’t get me wrong: the likes of Defoe, Kranjčar, Rose, Livermore and company have performed admirably this season — and at times, even outstandingly. But you’d be pretty hard pressed to find a Spurs supporter out there that wouldn’t at least let out a quiet groan in frustration if he saw any of their names in the first eleven. It’s clear we’ve needed additional depth... Read more »
