Transfers Summer 2016 Transfer Window Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

What an inane tweet. It was the same last season. I wonder if he put up a similar tweet last DD?
Edit: before someone quotes me and says LCFC didn't spend more than us last season, they did. We were outspent by nearly everyone including Sunderland, Bournemouth , PalaceStoke, Waste Glam, Newcastle and of course Liverpool.

How people think we are now weaker with the same 1st XI and now that cover is beyond me.
I don't consider myself either 'melty' or the opposite but, as thrilled as I am with Wanyama and particularly Janssen, I'd be a little underwhelmed if N'Koudou and Lopez are our only other signings.

In my view, we shouldn't be thinking about the strength of our starting 11, not least because it's a moveable feast. Instead, we should be looking at the strength of our squad. In the May '16 THSC/THFC meeting, Levy acknowledged the need to strengthen. We don't look like doing so, in my view, neither in absolute terms, nor relative to our main competition for CL spots.

Again. Injury and burnout was an excuse for doom and gloom last year.

How am I against improvement? I was all for Isco, because he was gettable.

Other than him I've seen no player we've been linked with as a definite improvement of our 1st XI.
But you've just admitted that our best players will be playing more games. So there's understandable concern about that. Anyway, I don't want to argue with you. So I'll leave it there.

Cheers.

Our signings should have been wrapped up a long time ago, with the new TV deal and the extra money it brings any selling club is going to want an extra large transfer fee. The closer to the window shutting the higher the price.

Some of you are assuming we are actually looking to sign players before the window shuts.....we've been here too many times before.

£30 mil for Sissoko is mental and well over what he is worth, I don't think it's unreasonable for us to be expecting players to come in especially as players have been sold.

Strikes me some of you Levy arse kissers would be heralding Charlie Adam's signing on loan as a masterstroke. We are in the Champions League for only the second time, some investment might help making that three times...

So you'd rather we splurged 30m on a Bolasie? Or 100k a week on Micah Richards?

That table means fuck all. We didn't need an overhaul. Other sides did so of course they'd have spent more money than us.

Not to mention the amount of new managers' first windows.

No I wouldn't condone signing Bolasie or dropping 100K/week on Micah Richards. I would however spend £30-40 million on a player that we actually want to have play for us. If it is Max Meyer offer £40 million, if it is Isco offer the price needed. If we don't then that is fine, but if the table at the end of the year has us out of the top 4, we deserve to be upset. If we leave CL in the group stage, especially given our group, we deserve to be upset. You are correct that we didn't need an overhaul, but to have a net positive on spending and be 16th on money spent, is crazy if we fail to meet expectations this season.

pretty sure we won't sign anyone. poch seems to have the final say on who comes in and who goes out and he seems to be more bothered about what club he's hitting tonight :pochlol:

Don't watch Sky Sports, it'll just annoy u

Why didn't Poch shift Chadli and Mason earlier then? Why didn't he say they were not in his plans pre season?
Has he just come to this decision?
Do you really think Levy has sold Chadli and Mason this late without Pochettino's say so?
He got Wanyama and Janssen - oh and Nkoudou - sorted a while back. We shifted the 'not in plans' pretty lively bar Bentaleb.
Hull have been after players for a while and so have West Brom.
Looks to me that Poch is trimming the squad and he's happy with what we have got.
If we can get another one, great.
I doubt we are scrambling around desperately.

Whatever else today brings (or, more likely, doesn't bring) just savour the prospect of being able to sing "Hello, hello, Woolwich reject, Woolwich reject" to Wheelchair when he comes to the Lane. With Bournemouth.

Oh there was one highlight. Halfway down page 587. Thin Lilywhite Duke Thin Lilywhite Duke 's post - very funny.

Just got back. I gather things have not been going smoothly today...

Don't want to miss out on Sissoko to Everton - is this like some kind of Stockholm Syndrome?

Dortmund away is not the same. We know why we sent a weaker side.

We won't be doing that in CL.

It will also be a lot of our more established players first season in CL. Yet we have faith in them.

This worry is exactly the same as last season and it was unfounded.

We have DM cover. We have ST cover.

How people think we are now weaker with the same 1st XI and now that cover is beyond me.

Unless they're looking for reasons to be melty.
I'm not getting the melty stuff mate. We have to choose this year. Do we play a weakened team in the Prem to cope with CL or vice versa? That's what some of us are concerned about. Do you really see us coping on those two fronts alone with our squad as it stands? Maybe you do, but then factor in the league & FA cups. Do you, hand on heart, think that we have the squad to compete in all competitions? I'm not angling for an argument, but surely we should be considerably stronger at the end of this window, bearing in mind what a potentially great season this could be in our last year at the lane?
