Jump to 3:00 for his take on Spurs following Juve defeat if you don't want to listen to the whole vid. I like that he is challenging the narrative around Juve and Spurs and I agree with it, as I've been banging on about it with our Juve friend in previous posts. Given his closeness to Poch re his book, I also like that he consistently talks about Levy, Poch and keeping players, everything he says is about the project being built rather than the one being broken up and sold off. I know that he is closer to Poch and his coaching staff than any Journalist there is, so unlike another I take what he has to say over and above any journalist (regarding Spurs).

He's also be more inclined to put a positive spin on it for the very same reasons.

Having banished the media's 'Wembley curse' narrative, can you imagine the cum frenzy if we lost final... despite 'home' advantage? :pochfacepalm:

Imagine if we won it though, the fucking "its not fair" kick back would be amazing. probably ask for it to be struck from the records... i'm only gutted the swansea game cant go to a replay so we could have won every round at wembley.

Juventus hierarchy attempted to influence referee during Tottenham game, says Mauricio Pochettino
Poch:
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed members of Juventus’ club hierarchy put pressure on referee Szymon Marciniak during their Champions League match on Wednesday.

Pochettino has revealed that he saw Juventus president Andre Agnelli and general manager Giuseppe Moratta in the tunnel at different points during the second leg of the last-16 tie at Wembley.

And the Spurs boss has claimed that the pair “put pressure on the referee” at half-time, after a first-half in which Juventus were denied a penalty after Jan Vertonghen brought down Douglas Costa in the box.

“Before the game was Agnelli, after the game was Agnelli, Marotta. I saw at half-time how they put pressure on the referee,” said Pochettino.
“It's about small details that count a lot in this type of game, even games that both teams can win. I believe those details can help the club to achieve what we want.”

Pochettino, however, was not complaining about Juventus’ behaviour and nor was he calling for Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to start paying visits to the tunnel at half time.

However, the Spurs boss did believe his own players could learn from how Juve won the battle around the fringes of the game in an attempt to win the match at all costs.

“It's small details. Competitions demand different things. Juve are specialists, because they have habit to win, the habit to put pressure referee,” said Pochettino.

“It's a massive lesson for us to care not only on the pitch, but off the pitch. When you're going to win, you need help from everyone.

“The owner stayed in the corridor, in the tunnel before and during the game. It's a club with a culture to try to do everything to help the team.

“It's a massive opportunity to learn not only on the pitch but outside. It's two games against this type of club - one on the pitch, one is outside of the pitch.

“I think it's a massive situation that you must learn from. If we only see the stats from the two games, Tottenham was the much better team.

“Then in football it's not only about a better performance, stats, shots more on targets, or have more possession.”

He's also be more inclined to put a positive spin on it for the very same reasons.
Agree. But who's story would you believe John Cross, Neil Ashton or this fella?

Over time it will work two ways too. I know I would be shitting myself if there are reports coming from him about Poch talking with Madrid or whoever. For me there is no doubting he's in contact with Poch, I can't say that about any other Journalist.

Mate, I would be in a trough along with all the other Spurs fans but would take that to losing before the final.

Sunday will be hard enough. Saturday week will be torture. Then any semi-final harder still.

But I am ready for that.

Personally I'm getting pretty tired of football punditry this season, the majority are lazy ex-pros who are getting paid for pushing the same tired old narratives without adding anything new, mainly because that would mean actually doing a bit of work and doing their own research and , you know, actually using their own fucking eyes.

The main culprits are Shearer and the majority of the cunts on Sky. The only people that I can listen to are those who are not worried about bucking the narrative and expressing their own opinions, guys like Gordon Strachan, Chris Sutton, Craig Bellamy even Ian Wright, Danny Murphy and JJ are OK but JJ is too easily bullied into just going with the flow of bullshit especially by that cunt Shearer who's just a fucking blow hard.

The thing is, if you were a pundit and really wanted to be taken seriously, surely after talking about Spurs players leaving pre and post match for nearly four years you would have noticed that you might not be onto something. Surely you might want to look into the mirror and think I'm looking a bit of a tit here.

For what they reportedly get paid they add very little of worth.

It is more that some Joe Blow would understandably have his or her credibility questioned even more.

Goodafternoon,
I’m Juventus supporter. I read Pochettino’s words about Agnelli - referee of Spurs - Juventus.
He spokes of influence...
Sorry but for me Pochettino hasn’t autocriticism. Spurs are a beatiful team and Kane ‘s top player but why to speak of referee’s influence?
1)the penalty for Douglas Costa (0-0)
2) Off side Kane before pole?

Sorry for my intervention.

Because he witnessed Agnelli talk to the ref. Let's face it if any club in the World has their owner/president caught talking to match officials it's not exactly the "thing to do". I mean given the recent history of Juventus involvement in corruption and match fixing I think it's very worrying that convicted match fixing club has it's president is talking with match officials, more than once.

I mean I'm sure he was only talking about what colour fiat 500 he preferred. Or may be he wasn't?

Thanks for that Balague video Guido. Finally a measued bit of journalism. The main thing he said for me was the need to analyse the PERFORMANCE not the RESULT.
So many dick pundits can't and don't do this.
That's why we get all the Juve defensive masterclass crap, ignoring the fact they got outplayed, rode their luck, and had to resort to dirty tactics.

Don’t apologise, you’re more than welcome to your opinion.

I read this and wondered why Poch had publicly spoken about it, as it’s not usually his game. The referee didn’t have a great game. Juventus should have had a penalty, meaning Vertonghen would have seen a yellow earlier than he did. Barzagli was lucky to get away with the double stamp on Son. I don’t think Spurs had a clear penalty shout, a few hopeful ones. Maybe others will disagree, but if they were given against us I’d have been annoyed. It comes down to Allegri got his tactics spot on second half, and it threw us.

Thank you for the compliment on our football, Pochettino has turned us into a very good footballing team. We are a couple of players short of winning serious titles, but we’re going in the right direction.

To challenge ourselves against Juventus and outplay them for 3 out of 4 halves of football shows how far we have come. Good luck for the rest of your season, I hope Buffon gets his wish of lifting the Champions League, a true great of the game.

And why do Juve fans keep bringing up the penalty? Yes it should have been given and you MIGHT have scored it. BUT there was ages to go in the match and you might have lost it from then onwards.
It wasn't a last minute penalty ffs.

I don’t know but for me frustration.
Pochettino had Champions’exam and he has lost personal battle with Allegri.
I love Spurs’game: Kane & company are very good players but I think miss “one” step of personality ( from Pochettino).

It has nothing to do with losing a football match. Poch NEVER complains about referees, never complains about other managers. He is also highly respectful to all other managers. But if he sees something that is wrong he will speak his mind. He didn't like it when he saw Mourinho waiting in the tunnel to talk to Dier (a player he was trying to get to join Man Utd) so he respectfully brought this up.

He is doing the same here. It is wrong for your president to talk to the match officials, what is wrong in him saying that he thinks this is wrong? Are you saying it's normal practise to have Angelli talk to the match officials, do you think this makes Juve look good? Do you think it's appropriate?
