loved defoe but always felt there was something missing. the fact that he spent only half his spurs career as a regular is indicative of the fact we were always wanting more/better. In Keane we had that IMO.

Its not the leaving, its the crawling back after being shit at Liverpool and expecting everything to be the same.
The love for him had gone, but there was no humbleness

In actual terms, what did this equate to tho?

I dont recall any specific incidents although footy was far less of an internet thing for me back then....

Keane

Defoe had an odd mentality where if he didn't start then he'd sulk when he came off the bench - Keane would try twice as hard if he was sub and would therefore win back a starting place far more easily.

Personally didn't really see that. I think Defoe has more goals from the bench than any other player in Prem history, by quite a few as well. An awful lot of them would have been for Spurs.

Keane for me. Unbelievably skilled player! There was a goal he scored in I think nov 06 in a 1-1 draw at Villa Park that was so skilful, he rolled his foot over the ball to control it and slow it down while moving it to his other side to finish bottom corner. Unreal goal! Can’t find it anywhere! It was way better than that Blackburn one

Both were great servants to the club regardless of their stumbles in tenure.

I would have to go with Keane though down solely to being technically superior and having a better games/goals ratio.

Loved them both

I thought Keane was the better all round player and JD a more instinctive goal scorer

I’m going with Robbie. 5 reasons.

1/ his partnership with Berbatov. Fantastic footballers playing in our shirt, so many memorable moments of brilliance. When we were pretty shit really as well.
2/ Lennon goal v Chelsea. I could watch him putting that defender on his backside all day.
3/ his goal v Chelsea in the 4-4. Scenes.
4/ his goal just after half time in the cup semi v Woolwich. Screaming yes down the phone to my dad just as I walked up the stairs.
What a night. Remember it till I get Alzheimer’s I reckon.

And the Main reason.

5/ 2007 my boy got given a Robbie Keane Spurs soccer skills shirt aged 10-11.
He was 2. So he wore it to bed all the time.
Called him Robber Keane as couldn’t say Robbie.

He cried when I tried to take it away when Robbie left. I remember I used to sing 11 Robbie Keane’s song to him all time before he went to bed.
His first Spurs hero because I made him a hero to him.
So let him carry on wearing it.

Told the boy him wearing it made Robbie come back.

And I’ve still got that Tshirt folded in up my wardrobe.

(Fair play to JD and how he befriended Bradley. Got a lot of time for him too)

Much as I loved Defoe, some of his hit and hope type shots just were so frustrating.

Always liked Keane from his days at Wolves and I remember us being linked with him then, was disappointed he went to Coventry, Inter and then was part of that Leeds mini revolution. I remember being overjoyed at signing him as Leeds had overspent themselves into oblivion.

Keane with Berbatov was a partnership of pure beauty.

I got a 2008/2009 puma kit with his name and number, then he proceeded to leave us for his ‘boyhood’ club, the cunt!
