the ECA proposed a revamped CL with automatic qualification for the history clubs. It sounds like a bastard hellspawn between the superleague they wanted and some compromises from UEFA.
But it seems the PL, FA, and at least the German league would resist it.
Juventus are leading the drive, to me it sounds like they and Barca and Real are the key drivers.

A 14 game group stage with the winners pitching straight to the semis (sounds similar to one of the old formats) would still result in 4 additional games. That's probably the PL's other big sticker - they'd need to downsize the league (lower revenue) or else the FA would see pretty much the CL teams playing their U21's right the way through the cups.
