Match Tottenham Hotspur v Ajax, Champions League Semi-Final, Tue 30th April

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Wanyama and Sanchez both having nightmares, Wanyama in particular. We have looked a different team since going 4 at the back, even before Jan came off you could see it helped us.

We’ve not been at our best, but Ajax are fucking excellent. Crazy how good this team are and shame they won’t stay together.

Not sure really what we can do at this point, I think Wanyama needs to come off but will Dier be theatre much better given how he’s played since coming back? Llorente has held the ball up well. Crucial 2nd half now.

Starting with a back 5 is reasonable.

1) Sissoko has not been fully fit.
2) Ajax passing prowess. We need to stifle them somehow.
3) playing a back 4 with a midfield diamond would expose us to counter attacks by Ajax.
4) We don’t have a mobile forward (Llorente) to play such a formation effectively. We need to keep lobbing long balls to llorente thereby by passing the midfield (reducing the effectiveness of Eriksen.

Ajax were absolutely excellent for the first 30 minutes by the way. Blew us apart. Great football being played. So much better than us technically and pressed the absolute hell out of us.

But the last 15 certainly gave me hope that we can at least nick something from this. Away goal could come back and bite us but going to the ArenA with at 1-1 or even 2-1 ahead (wishful thinking?) with Son coming back and Sissoko fitter would be a fucking godsend.

Going there 1-0 down would not be good enough. Certainly cannot concede another.
We had 2 breaks that we would have had a chance with son

Nasty injury for Super Jan, hope he is ok.

Ajax started like a house on fire and we looked lost for ideas, whenever we got the ball we stopped. Credit Danny Rose for trying to get us going - at least he showed he cares.

Change of formation has worked well and we look a lot better side. Lets see what the 2nd half brings.

We need to get Victor off, but I feel like putting Dier on there is just too negative, but don't know if Skipp is ready for this.... Foyth as a CDM?
