We may well still have financial restrictions in place, who really knows.
In my opinion I think the reason Levy kept player spending as low as it was over the past 2 years was him planning ahead to now, he didn’t want to go into the new stadium without a pot to piss in, and PR wise that makes good business sense.
He has already showcased this new stadium to the world media and by all accounts the footballing world has given it 10/10.
Now the big companies should be gunning for naming rights, and that means big cheques. Even so I don’t think those cheques will be splashed foolishly on player after player, those will be used to cover the operating costs and unforeseen extras that may appear, Levy is no fool......
What is does do however is allow investment in the squad, a combination of two years of non foolish spending coupled with two years of very profitable seasons, he did say after all the stadium wouldn’t affect on the pitch investment, and this might be his way of making sure that happened.
I certainly dont expect us to go all Man City here, but I do expect us to invest enough not only to stay within the top 4, which is more critical now than ever, but to close the gap at the top, and with a bit of luck you just never know......
Levy is smart enough to know this top class stadium requires a top class team, and he will deliver that team, maybe not in one season, maybe not even in two, but he will build it eventually.....
I’m going to confidently say there will be a Premier league title with in 3 seasons....
