What do I mean? (See the bit you chopped off my reply)

I say again, the point I responded to: "We should have signed [a DM*] three years ago."

You're dragging my retort further and further off piste with talk of Kane, Walker, CBs & #8s.

Sorry, I brought up centre backs as an example of buying in a position where we were strong regarding buying a DM (of cm) 3 years ago. As you had quite rightly mentioned we had Wanyama, Dembele, Dier and emerging talents in Winks and Onomah.

I only went off topic because you said CB was needed when it certainly wasn't. It was one of our least needed positions.

I wonder if we make a serious offer for Hull's Bowen now that Kane will be out. Might not be the best short term solution but makes sense long term.
He is probably a better and more intelligent footballer than Moura; Son - Lo Celso - Bowen behind Kane looks better to me than most teams we've put out so far this season, at least he would give us some extra options.

Who?

Who? Last seasons he scored 19 goals for Dortmund, he is no joke. Has a long list of minor injuries though.

Hmm, Paco would be interesting option.
Though I think he is leaving because he fears competition from freshly-joined Haaland? What would his feelings be competing against Kane then???

And he seems like extremely patchy player.
Let's look at his go in Bundesliga -

Joined Dortmund before start of last season.
Within 1st half of the season (17 games) he scored 12 goals. Impressive.
With 2nd half (17 games) he added ... 6. Well... okay.
This season he started strong - 5 goals within 4 games. Wow.
After that? 0 goals. Though seems injury played huge part in this - after this run of games he has started once and played no more than 45 minutes after it. But as he seems to have made lot of end-of-game cameos, he rather lost his starting spot rather than was unable to play.

Weird situation. Would not write him off as an option, but kinda weird.

I would, I don't see why he would want to compete against one of the best strikers in the world, we have Son as well who is no slouch.

Friend of mine says he is very injury-prone.

Not getting sucked into any rumour re: transfers and will go along sadly thinking we will lose to all and sundry.....

Until I have good cause to think different.

Got to be better for my mind.

Any updates on outgoings?

Because correct me if I am wrong, but we need to sell foreign players if we wish to bring in any new ones. I think our quota is full.

Agreed we need to sell one or more overseas trained players to bring in any more.

Nothing I have seen suggesting anything is close - rumours of Wanyama going to Galactasersay, Celtic, West Ham and even Nairobi Times rewriting the "Wanyama to Club Bruges" with a reference to him only having brief sub appearances under Mourhino all on NewsNow but all seem pretty nebulous at the moment. And the other one doing the rounds is of course Eriksen going to numerous clubs.

I had hoped we might bring in a young home grown player such as Eze or Bowen even if we think the major benefit would be in a seasons time. Or Bentaleb as a player able to make an instant impact. But no recent rumours on these - before Christmas plenty of rumours linking us to the youngsters but none since

Like Lamela ( who has only been fit for 50% of games since he joined 6 years ago ) - never fit when you need him to cover other players injuries.

I'm as big a fan of Harry as anyone but he was not world class for the 1st half of the season. Seemed slow, didn't move well off the ball. He actually was passing like the Eriksen of old. Now he's injured so it's become moot but having the rep and keeping it are 2 very different things. I'll probably receive a bunch of hate mail for criticising Harry but I have to be honest and swallow the bitter pill that for a while now, he seems to have lost his spark. We need to be careful somebody doesn't think he's unhappy at Spurs and start making whopping great offers.
On another note, my bookmakers gave me quite good odds on my bet that there would be no Spurs signing until the last 4 days of January. Must be a friend of Levy.
