What? Why would they do that? Not only are we a semi-rival but they have barely had the lad for a season and he came with a big price tag and reputation. Can't see this being a go-er at all.

Sissok and Kane get injured = loan for a CM & a striker?

That's not logical to you?
You'll have to forgive me here as I won't be at my best as I'm a little under the weather.

But logic has nothing to do with it and wasn't the issue I was addressing. Hugo goes down and we call back Vorm for the emergency short term. Made sense then, makes sense now.

The GK issue somewhat illustrates my point in that it wasn't a position of particular weakness. Some may have had quibbles but I don't believe anyone would have suggested it was the position that was holding us back or the first position needing to be addressed. When the stop-gap is no longer needed we will return to at least parity with the average of the comparable teams ie stop-gap makes sense.

On the other hand if you take our MF and forward line they were positions for improvement either through quality or numbers. And these issues, along with the FBs, predated any injuries. What we've done is at best retain our previous level...which was shit.

On the other hand, Liverpool, the best team in the world (literally), have just added a transfer from a position of strength. He is a promising forward, picked up permanently, and on the cheap. He was identified and the matter was handled expeditiously. I will let you guess which day his transfer was confirmed.

I’ve been mulling this over.

It certainly does seem to make sense although that’s not necessarily indicative.

Levy has always disliked loans so this new direction is unusual. And presumably Joe Lewis needs to cash in at some point.

I think options to buy are becoming increasingly more common. It makes sense to take advantage of them as they completely change the complexion of a loan deal.... No longer are you risking merely developing a player for the owner.

Note: Ceballos.... We didn't bother with him in the summer because RM wouldnt give us an option so I don't think the club have had a change of 'heart'.

When you say CM do you mean pure CM or is a DM included on that? I'd say that a perm DM is more vital on a permanent as we only really have Dier, Wanyama and winks who we can utilise there (Skipp the jury is still out even though I like the look of him, he's very young still).

If Ndombele and Sissoko didn't have their injury issues I genuinely don't think C! Is a pressing area for concern compared to a couple of other positions in the squad. An 18 month deal, £3.5m from the coffers and the ability to spend bigger on other areas that are clearly urgent. In theory Gedson isn't someone we will have to pay out for until the summer 2021, that means CB, DM, potentially a FB or two, an AM can now take priority when it comes to the dough we have.

I don't think it's a short term solution, I just see it as a really smart deal for all the right reasons.

Win huge fees and the huge risk involved, absolutely I agree. How many loans to Perm options have teams like Bayern Munich had recently? James Rodriguez, Coutinho they are serious names. Even the goons have dabbled with a loan or two recently with Denis Suarez, Dani Ceballos etc I think it's a knock on effect from the silly boy wages thrown about. Alexis Sanchez at Inter is another one that's prime for that as an example.

Try before you buy sells it short, try before you completely ha,met your finances is more like it and I'm all for us takin the next steps without being reckless. I don't prefer someone like Zakaria but for £3.5m can anyone really have issues with this signing seriously?

Some danish ITK here, apparently Eriksen is still open to extending with us provided a satisfying contract is offered to him. The club has supposedly "withdrawn" the last contract offer made to him, so he is examining his options

But.........we don't want him.

Maybe if we pay Inter a bit more, they will take him? There's got to be something we can do. What if we throw in Dier to sweeten the deal?
