My overall concern is that we are not able to buy players that are better than the ones we already have. Consistently, season after season we buy potential that is rarely filled.

Walker -> Trippier -> Aurier
Rose -> Sess
Moura -> Bergwjen
Vertonghen -> Sanchez
Dembele -> Sissoko -> Ndombele
Wanyama -> Dier -> Winks -> Gedson???
Eriksen -> Lo Celso
Soldado -> Janssen -> Llorente -> ??

Of course, we need to rotate the squad and replace ageing players - but we never seem to buy anyone that is actually capable of being better in that position.

The Dybala transfer would have been the real statement signing.

The last time we brought a player that has become a mainstay was Son & Toby in 16/17. Sissoko has played because we had no-one else, Sanchez / Moura and Aurier seem not to be trusted and have been in and out of the squad.

Certainly Lo Celso looks the real deal and Ndombele certainly should be

I'd rather we didn't sign giroud even if it meant not getting a striker....I know it makes no sense on paper but I would hate to have anyone so connected with Woolwich at the club
Oh get over yourself. In one regard, has anyone played for LeArse, Chelski, and Spurs - he’d probably be one of the most hated men in London, hate being a strong word. I bet he’s wanting to complete the trifecta and tbh, taking a step back, he could be a good bench player

forgot to mention his also pretty shit With only 5 premier league goals for Chelsea since he arrived....and at his age, no resale value

I feel like this was a really smart January window. Keeping Gio, more potential in Gedson and Stevie. Yes, we have other needs, but realistically those needs were never going to be filled until the summer anyway. Just because we need something, doesn't mean it's appropriate to go out and do it right now, and likely case the players they want to fill those positions won't be available in the summer anyway.

For a lot of people who moaned on about the lack of transfers over the past few years, there still seems to be a lot of complaints about the moves that were made since last summer. If all of the new boys reach their full potentials, we're in for a great few years at Tottenham.

What's equally as important is the players that are leaving, trim the fat to grow the muscle.

I’d rather have Giroud than Sturridge

My stream for the Real Sociedad match just died, can't be arsed to find another. They're comfortably winning 3-1. The players some were asking about - Merino, Barrenetxea and Oyarzabal all played well, but the star of the show was undoubtedly
Alexander Isak who's scored 2 already and unlucky not to have a hat-trick. He's gonna be the bloke stepping into WJ's shoes if the latter finally leaves, he looks an excellent player, only 20.

The (Mexican) comentators were talking as if the WJ transfer was done and dusted, tho I doubt they have any real inside knowledge
Do they speak Mexican in Madrid now

Or in another way...

- We have a Sissoko replacement in young Gedson
- We found a solution to the Eriksen drama
- Rose found an out
- We converted future Ballon D'or winner Lo Celso
- We brought in competition for Son/Lucas and perhaps an understudy to Kane who looks like a real talent
- KWP is getting a much needed loan with no option to sell
- The average age of the team is now about two years younger

For all our flaws in the transfer market in the last couple years, this window has been pretty crazy for us. Plus we didn't even need to turn up at Levy's house like our deluded friends from up north. :D
Why look at it that way when you can say;

Where’s Vecino who I said was shit????
Where’s Piatek who I didn’t want?????

:pochcry:

And if we did sign them, they’d just be called “Njie” anyway...
