Agree with all of that. But some of the older grounds are still decent for atmosphere, like the two Edinburgh teams and Abs.

Might have changed since I was there. Was in Aberdeen from 2008-2012 and went to a fair few games. Pittodrie wasn't really great apart from the big games. The Dons away support was strong, and it was always a good day out heading to away games.

Saw recently, that they are introducing a "home end" in the Merkland, which was the family stand back then. I like the idea - cheaper tickets and no allocated seats, with the idea to get the vocal support congregated in the same area. Think they'll even have safe standing in their new ground.

Yeah that’s worked pretty well so far. It’s a low roof stand so should get a noise going.

Rangers call for vote probe and SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster to be suspended

Rangers interim chairman Douglas Park and SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster
Rangers have called for the suspension of SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster and an investigation into the league body's handling of the members ballot.
The club, who also want SPFL legal adviser Rod McKenzie removed while a probe is held, claim they have received evidence of a lack of "fair play".
Rangers say they will not be "bullied into silence" over these concerns.
SPFL chairman Murdoch MacLennan has told interim Rangers chairman Douglas Park to prove or withdraw the claims.
MacLennan said: "It is extremely concerning that Rangers have chosen to make a number of very serious allegations against the SPFL.
"In the often-heated atmosphere of Scottish football, rumour and misinformation can very quickly reach fever-point. However, allegations of a lack of even-handedness and fair play go to the very integrity of the league.
"I will be writing to Mr Park asking him to urgently communicate any and all information he possesses."
Rangers had said they were given evidence by a whistleblower that raised "serious concerns" over the voting process.
And they claimed Doncaster tried to silence Park's attempts to discuss the matter.
"We believe it is in the interests of all Scottish clubs and supporters that the evidence, which is alarming, be addressed as quickly as possible," the club's statement said.
"The voting debacle and the evidence we possess raise serious questions concerning the corporate governance of the SPFL."
The outcome of the SPFL's resolution on ending the lower-league season rests on Championship side Dundee, who have yet to vote despite the league's requested cut-off of 1700 BST on Friday.
Shortly after that deadline, the SPFL released the figures so far, which showed a sufficient number of teams in the Premiership and Leagues One and Two backed the proposal while three of the 42 member clubs had yet to vote.
If passed, the motion would also lead to the Premiership being declared on the same points-per-game basis if the SPFL board determines the remaining fixtures cannot be played.
Rangers' their counter resolution - whereby prize money would be released now with no leagues declared - was rejected as "ineffective" by the SPFL on Friday.
That led to Rangers saying they had received "numerous reports" from Scottish clubs of attempts by the SPFL to "coerce and bully" them into accepting the league body's own proposal.
Park said: "The lack of leadership and responsibility from the SPFL as a members' organisation has shocked me. Crucial decisions are being made on the issues of promotion and relegation behind closed doors and without proper time for consideration or debate.
"All we ask for is equality and respect. In the past few days, we have become alarmed at a seeming lack of even-handedness and fair play from the SPFL. This is surely unacceptable and, if substantiated, must be remedied.
"Other member clubs, who have seen the evidence we hold, share our concerns. We call for the suspension of the SPFL's chief executive Neil Doncaster and its legal adviser Rod McKenzie while an independent investigation is conducted."

What’s happened? I’m not quite sure even reading that?
The vote hasn’t passed, as Dundee can’t use a fax machine. Even posted a copy of their “no” vote on social media, but somehow have failed to get it to the SPFL. Now the artists formerly known as Rangers are moaning that they’ve got a solution to the issue, but the powers that be aren't listening. Assume their solution involves disbanding a Celtic and giving them the title instead. Can almost certainly guarantee it involves cancelling the Scottish cup so Celtic can’t win another treble.

All about which side you want to be on, green or blue. Like being told you can have cancer or HIV, but you’re getting one of them.

As in finishing the season or Rangers want to keep playing.

No clue. They’ve said they’ve got an idea, but aren’t letting on what it is. I’m suspicious.

Theres a rumour about a plan to decrease from four leagues to three and increase teams to 14 per league. I believe this means no relegation from any league and all teams in promotion places would be promoted. But it wouldn’t involve the a Highland league or the other league in the south of Scotland, therefore fucking up the pyramid. No clue if this is the Rangers plan though.

Well cheers for clearing that up......🤪

So just heard from a mate who has been working in Scottish football for years for various clubs and here’s where the rumours are today:

Dundee were going to vote No to stick it to Dundee Utd as they’d get promoted to the Premier League. They made this intention clear on socials media. Then somehow, their vote never happened.

For years now, Celtic have been working with Dundee to try to get a Dundee v Celtic match moved to the USA, specifically Boston. Celtic see this is a chance to have a match in a full NFL or College Football stadium. The USA football authorities have blocked this on the grounds that it would open the door for other teams to do the same and damage the MLS brand.

However, there can still be friendlies there. The rumour now is that Celtic have again offered Dundee a series of annual friendlies in the USA in exchange for changing their vote to Yes, which would probably lead to Celtic being awarded the league title. But would also lead to Dundee Utd being promoted. Dundee now deciding if a few lucrative friendlies outweighs promoting their main rivals.

Loads of infighting and rumours up here about all this. The Caley CEO voted No and stated if he had voted Yes it would have been self serving. However, he’s a Rangers fan who used to work for Hearts, so certainly doesn’t want one losing the league and the other relegated. Also, do Caley want Hearts in their league vying for promotion next season? No.

Still a while to run on this.

how does this mix with the whole USA and La Liga trying to move La Liga games to America thing that the Spanish FA have blocked a couple of times?

Not sure. But if the MLS are blocking Scottish clubs from coming, I suppose they’d also block Spanish ones too. That La Liga blocked the idea before it got to the MLS is probably why they've not blocked the idea themselves.
