Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don't usually get invoved in these We-Should-Sign-This-Bloke-I've-Never-Seen-Play-From-a-League-I-Never-Watch threads but having read about this lad in Marca, I'm bang up for it now.

21 goals in 23 league games this season, similar numbers to Haaland. Cool name too

According to Transfermarkt he can play behind the striker and on the left or right as well as a nº9, and is valued at €7.2 million, earning €27,000 a week.

The Marca piece reckoned Kanouté brought him to Europe

I just find it astonishing that Spurs supporters actually enjoy us not really achieving anything than City and Chelsea winning titles etc. How can anyone in their right mind as a Sports fan, let alone a huge Spurs fan prefer to see the club not successful ?

Wow, we bought through a few youngsters and got to a couple of finals. Jesus, the whole to dare is to do motto this club adopts is completely rendered pointless when you got Spurs supporters celebrating failure. It’s a reason why we get laughed at by rivals so much. The term “Spursy” is there for a reason.

I watched the Last Dance on Netflix and what an inspirational documentary. A winning machine Chicago Bulls spearheaded by a true winner Michael Jordan. That’s what Spurs need to achieve, not get to a few bloody finals and lose them.
That is what Jose was brought in for because he has the winning culture, sadly I think he has come in probably two seasons too late now it's a tired old team on it's knees.
I think that the decision to employ him was out of desperation on Levy's part which will result in it going tits up sooner rather than later.

Enjoying and accepting are two very different things Don Corleone.
As I said on here the other day, 6th biggest club in England doesn’t mean as big as the top 2 or 3 clubs. To put what I mean into perspective the worlds 6th biggest army is Pakistan and not many would put them in the same bracket as other top 6 armies such as China, US, Russia etc.

We should have achieved more in some quarters and have over achieved in others during the Levy reign. Consistent qualifying for the Champions League has been a huge success for the club, really has boosted our profile and the stadium will continue to see our stock rise as a brand. He has been able to, whilst adhering to a profit focused system been able to keep us in the top 6 and in either the Champions League or Europa League for what must be 10-12 years on the spin now which, when you look at the state of the club when he took over cannot be ignored.

A couple of cups here or there would solidify the ENIC reign as being a very successful one to me but as we all know we have continued to come up short in that department which clearly brings the owners marks out of 10 down a few notches, that doesn’t mean we either have to throw our toys out of the pram and demand more or be deemed as people enjoying failure.

For Levy, it's a personal win. He has wanted Mourinho for well over a decade. Now he has him. He's won in his own right.

The one thing I find funny with it though, is that if he doesn't win anything at Spurs then it only points to Levy, not Mourinho. He has won things at Porto, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter and Man Utd. Spurs are now his club, and you know what he is like. He'll happily throw Levy under the bus because he knows what he wants and will do what he can do get that.

Mate, when I see a Spurs supporter on here say he prefers to see what Spurs are doing right now and enjoys it more than a City and Chelsea supporter seeing their club win league titles? That is celebrating failure. I’m Sorry, but there’s no two ways about it.

What's more successful..

Qualifying for Europa League this season or winning the League Cup and potentially the FA Cup and Champions League?

Because what I'm reading on here it seems like we should get the open top bus out and clean the trophy room if we finish 6th.

Chavs might get Havertz now.
I'm not saying we have to spend bucket loads but the season could turn sour before it even starts. We need to buy a young player who would excite everyone , of course we can't go splash £50m but Eze for me would certainly cheer me up. Eze isn't Havertz but at least we get our own gem.
Eze propoganda yes , but we can't sit still while Chelsea keep improving.

Would i be making a lazy assumption by saying RBS > RBL to replace Weener now he's a dirty chav?

Speaking for myself a day or two ago; I'll repeat....

The more the game becomes a battle of obscene wealth, the more it erodes my enjoyment of the game. Thankfully for the time being, because of the way we run our club I don't have to concern myself with that in terms of the team that I actively support. However, there's a tipping point where eventually there's only so many rich arab states to go round; at which point my interest in the game at the top level will simply die altogether.

If that makes me a "celebrator of failure" (copyright some miserable dick-head) then I'm fine with that.
To be fair to you, I do believe that if we were taken over in the morning by a billionaire who pumped money in you would genuinely be peeved by it and stick by your guns, as opposed to some who claim they would be against it but I would be confident would flip like a light switch if it were to actually materialize.

You seem to genuinely feel strongly on the matter, which I can only say fair dues to you for.

He’s a busted flush. Managers, like players, have their use by dates and Mourinhos has well and truly passed. His methods and tactics are sadly nowhere near the required levels to compete with the modern coaches.
Look at how we were schooled by Nanglesmann in the Champions League. That would never have happened to a Mourinho team before. He’s so finished it’s unreal but so many of our fans are still clinging on to this “he’s a winner” bs.

Tread carefully mate. Airfixx won’t let you say anything towards his supreme leader Darth Levy. He will call you a miserable bastard for wanting success. Just be careful around him.

Nope, I just don’t have any time for an arrogant tosspot like yourself. A typical supporter that claims the moral high ground because you are content with winning nothing, so you criticise other supporters for being fed up of achieving nothing. Ohhhhh what a great supporter you are because you haven’t got the balls to criticise the club.

Sure... Because "You're hard" articulates that, does it?

I'm arrogant (and jealous LOL), because I dare to contradict your ill-conceived post about "envy/jealously" and have the audacity to articulate my side of things in a way that rubbishes your mudslinging.... ?

(Lol at your latest retort.. You're just doing it again... More ill-concieved mud-slinging.... Over and over. You're just exhibiting the signs of a man that knows his argument is spent.)

Mourinho has never taken over a team midseason before.

Mourinho had the second highest points tally in the league this season until Kane and Son got injured.

We were schooled by a fully fit team against a team who were struggling for numbers completely.

This a Mourinho that has won more trophies in one season than we have in over a decade.

The hate for him is unreal. Fucking support our manager instead of always abusing him.

.....Or simply perceiving their 'success' as hollow and not being "envious" of it?

Of course not, thinking any other way would just be "arrogant".

Okay then. And what’s your reasoning for the state he left Chelsea in during his last stint there? Or the shit show that was his time as United manager?

I will continue to support the team and Mourinho while he remains here, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to bury my head in the sand and try and convince myself Mourinho is still the same manager he was 10 or so years ago, because he’s not.
