Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Exactly. According to Lyon's recent books we ended up buying Ndombele for closer to 47 mil + bonuses.

Granted Aulas is a special case when it comes to transfer shithousery.

Also in the case of GLC, the selling club were purported to need a minimum level of return on the player to balance the books. We still ended up getting him nearly 30m below asking price.

He’s a busted flush. Managers, like players, have their use by dates and Mourinhos has well and truly passed. His methods and tactics are sadly nowhere near the required levels to compete with the modern coaches.
Look at how we were schooled by Nanglesmann in the Champions League. That would never have happened to a Mourinho team before. He’s so finished it’s unreal but so many of our fans are still clinging on to this “he’s a winner” bs.
Agreed. Our only hopes under this management team is that Mourinho is a mentality figurehead and Sacramento runs the tactics.

I think we have half a chance of landing this lad this summer ...but only if Southampton will accept 10m plus KWP ! Can’t see us even having 35 m to spend in total let alone on one player, a lot of clubs will be in the bargain bucket market this window. Ryan Fraser here we come!! Lol 🤣.

But yes, I like this guy, he’d add some much needed combativeness to our midfield and has a leader about him.

Considering Eriksen went for just above £15m (granted with 6 months left). Hojberg is valued less than Eriksen (nowhere the level he was) and Eriksen left before COVID.
No way they can ask for more than £15m for him.
I think some of that was related to the contract demands too. Eriksen was looking for, and got, a nice fat contract. Guessing Hojberg won't be looking for close to Eriksen money.

The dude Levy and his son Airfix sure don't know anything about football.
I've had my fallouts with airfixx myself mate, and to be honest like I have mentioned previously no one is really winning these debates or arguments on here.
Every time someone posts something, the poster in turn counter argues it we all keep going around in circles.
The fan base is pretty much split in two, those who are keen on the painfully slow organic almost no success growth, and those who want to be at the pit face of receiving medals, very much like our club there are no winner's in this.

You mean the Chelsea team with Matic, Fabregas, Costa, Courtios and so on that Conte then used to win the league again after Mourinho had also won the league with them?

The United team he won the Europa League and League Cup with, where players like Rashford said he made him a much better player? Who gave McTominay his chance and improved other players?

What state has Poch left us in?
The season after Mourinho won his last league title at Chelsea is when his decline began. He took that amazing team you speak of and left them in disarray in the bottom half. Managers like Pep, Klopp, and indeed Poch were gaining momentum and their higher energy and higher fitness level football which was being adopted by more and more coaches was simply too good for Mourinhos pragmatic, reactive style of football. He was found out.

Wind on to his time at United and it became even more glaring that his style was finished. Those two trophies he won in his first season, let’s look at them a bit closer. To win the League Cup, Mourinho had to beat Northampton Town, City (on pens), West Ham, Hull, and Southampton. I would call that an unbelievably favorable draw.
For the Europa, he had to beat the might of St Etienne, Rostov, Anderlect, Celta Vigo and an unbelievably green Ajax side in the final. Has any side ever had an easier run to a final in a European cup than that? And even at that he scraped past most of those teams. Luck had a far far bigger role in him winning his two trophies at United than his managerial prowess.

He then went on to spend another hundred odd million on players HE wanted, only for United to get progressively worse and worse. You mention Rashford and McTominay as players he improved. Are you for real? Rashford is just a fast Danny Welbeck and hasn’t improved since Van Gaal gave him his debut, and McTominay is just a slightly more mobile Dier.

Talk about Mourinhos past glories all you like, but to be trying to gas up his time at United, thats just embarrassing.

That League Cup run you are mentioning, you realise we went out to Colchester... In the Champions League went finished third in a group of CSKA, Monaco and Leverkusen, we then went out the Europa League to Gent.

Rashford a fast Danny Welbeck? Grow up.

Word on the street is that Southampton are in dire need of money. So there is probably some posturing going on.

I assume all deals include it. Set a price a bit above what you really want and negotiate down to it no?
You just know how this will go though. Southampton want to sell. He wants to come here. He’s in his final year. But we’ll haggle and haggle and haggle, probably offer 5 million plus Walker-Peters or some bs, then we’ll either get him in October or whenever the deadline is for pretty much what Southampton had initially asked for anyway, or possibly even more likely, someone like City or Chelsea will just nip in and buy him during the course of our haggling. City in particular I could see being very interested due to his links to Pep in the past.
