He called him the “most talented player he’s seen at his age” tbf, but still a big claim.
Pep Guardiola isn't one for hyperbole – but the Manchester City boss outlined what he expects from Phil Foden this season when he hailed the teenager as “the most talented player I have ever seen.”

The City boss failed to qualify exactly what he meant.

Southampton supposedly looking for £35M for Hojbjerg.
Yeah, there was some discussion about it a few pages back. Most of us seem to be in agreement that it seems like a bit of posturing considering his stated intent to leave and contract length. They'd most likely be willing to negotiate to a more fair price.

Like how Aulas at Lyon spoke about demanding 80 mil for Ndombele but we ended up buying him for roughly 47 mil + bonuses in the end.

One thing I got from watching the documentary was Jordan’s mindset. He refused to accept anything but 100% and the best. Apparently Kane is like this but to find a player like him in football with his level of ability is very hard. But if we could find a few more players with the same mentality as Harry I believe we’d have much more of a chance of winning things. The bulls seemed to have that in Rodman too, I’m not sure about the rest of the side but some of the others must of been of the same mindset.

This is where proper scouting comes in. Liverpool seem to have done their homework and got these players in. Robertson, Van Dijk, Henderson all seem to have that winning mentality where only the best will do. It’s all scouting, scouting, scouting. Sacrifice a bit of ability on the pitch for ability off it perhaps and they’ll raise their game on the pitch to that of others because of their level of determination to win.

Apparently Poch was all about this, but despite him taking the reins of our recruitment, it hasn't really shown itself in the acquisitions he made.

He absolutely wasn't - having gone on record claiming trophies are meaningless except for boosting egos and he also openly disregarded some local cups

Loved the man but he got the domestic cups horribly wrong

Karius, Adrien, Grujic, Sakho, Benteke, Lovren, Solanke, They have their share of transfer failures like everyone else.
It wasn't scouting that got them where they are, it was a willingness to splash cash.

Exclusive - Premier League trio Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have all asked Real Madrid about the availability of Achraf Hakimi, who has been on loan at Borussia Dortmund since 2018.

The Madrid-born Morocco international has impressed hugely during his time in Germany, scoring 13 times in 70 appearances for BVB, while he has picked up 10 assists in the Bundesliga during 2019/20.

Now established as one of one of Europe's most exciting attacking full backs, with the versatility to play on either flank, Hakimi is expected to return to Madrid upon the conclusion of the Bundesliga campaign.

I was talking about recruitment according to mentality, but fair point....

I do think there was a degree of his mandate from the club in those comments about domestic cups tho.... League positioning and the prestige of good CL runs are more in line with the drive to grow the club and finance the stadium project than being side-tracked with trophies that have a depleted sense of glory attached.

That's not to say I don't think Poch subscribed to the notion..... He always talked of the "big things" afterall.

Yes - ENIC mandate was painfully clear - put your effort into competitions that will maximise our profitss

In the end he became the scapegoat for a poisonous, greed-infested regime

Man..... how far has Coutinho fallen... getting his agent to beg teams to take him on.

Sad to see.

Not sad at all imo..... I find it poetic that he snubbed us last summer and his club may now be trying to fudge him in our direction.

Fuck 60m + a player though...... Afterall, it's not like Barca covet KWP is it? They'd presumably have a higher level player than that in mind....

We certainly don't need a luxury player like Coutinho for what could amount to 90m-odd.

No one could convince me the equivalent couldn't be spent infinitely more wisely in areas that it's actually needed.

Did he though? We were in a League Cup final, 2 FA cup semis and a League Cup semi final in his 5 years here, all of which we played full strength teams in and Poch would have given a limb to win.
How exactly did he disrespect them/get them wrong?

LOL.... Sidestepping the melodrama if I could.

He's not a victim.... He bought in and promoted the clubs values as his own every step of the way..

You seem to have done somewhat of a u-turn since your previous post.

So the rumour is city, Chelsea are interested,............next nothing to see here.

I’m for and against Coutinho.

He’s a very good player, a game changer. He’d be someone who could win us a game. But at the same time he’s not what we need at the moment.

As we all mention, RB, DM and back up ST are all priorities.

If we can get Coutinho on a loan with little outgoing funds then I’m for it, otherwise I’m against it.

He both was and wasn't. He was all about competing and winning BIG trophies. But to the point that he wrote off smaller trophies as pointless.

Ignoring the fact that winning a few smaller trophies could help build the winning mentality that is required to consistently win big trophies.

Southampton set £35m asking price for Spurs target
Date published: Wednesday 10th June 2020 12:24

Southampton have placed a £35million price tag on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham.

The club captain has just over a year left on his contract at St Mary’s, but the Saints claim their £35million asking price is fair given he’s just 24 years old.

Southampton are hopeful Hojbjerg will will commit his long-term future at the club, but chief executive Martin Semmens insists they will sell the midfielder if he doesn’t sign a new contract and a buyer stumps up the cash.

Hojbjerg’s desire to play at the highest level suggests a move away from St Mary’s is likely, with Spurs boss Jose Mourinho thought to be an admirer.

In a recent interview with SPORT1, Hojbjerg said: “I know what I want, the club knows it too.

“I want to play at an even higher level than I am currently. The relationship between me and Southampton is fantastic.

“The club gave me the platform to grow. I’m not saying ‘Goodbye’ and I’m focused on my club, but my goal is very clear: I want to win the Premier League and the Champions League.

“I gained a lot of experience so that I could move on to develop elsewhere. When I was 23 I became a captain in a Premier League club. Now I’m hungry to get to the next level.”

Not at all

Poch ignored the cups and part of the reason for that was ENIC's mandate to maximise profits wherever possible in order for some fat Board cunts to butter up their annual share
