Woolwich and Chelsea seem to shit out decent prospects these days yet we don't

We need to work on our youth recruitment, if we aren't going to spend money, how can we afford to also have worse youth recruitment and development than our closest regional rivals? We share catchment area, yet perform worse. Terrible again.

I would argue we have seen quite a few promising youngsters in and around the first team the last couple of seasons. The problem is they are stagnating and not playing any games. Tanganga, Skipp, Walker-Peters, Edwards, Parrott, now we’re hearing buzz about Cirkin as well.

Don't forget that the Academy produced Marcus Edwards, but we never gave him a proper chance before offloading him to Vitoria and now we’re linked with a 9m move for him.

Cheaper than JC, so that's still a good deal, right? :llorishuh::mourfacepalm:

It really seems like any interest in this lad was a waste of a time. Not only have we spunked 30 million on Sessegnon in a time where we didn't have much money to spend but needed improvements on our first 11, we still cling on to prospects like Clarke and Parrott.

Utd have Greenwood and Woolwich have Martinelli. Two strikers at clubs that already have top forwards and they are fighting for game time.

Clarke is fucking about at QPR after Leeds binned him off and who knows how good Parrott is but the lad not being able to get any minutes after Kane and Son went down.. that tells you all you need to know. He's not some wonderkid like Foden, Saka, Greenwood.

Don't forget Tammy at Chelsea. We should at least play Skipp a bit and give Parrott a minute here and there... otherwise, why do we even bother with the academy?

Yes, Tammy isn't even that good but better than we've produced. Chelsea also have Hudson-Odoi. He hurt his achilles but you know you have a top player when Bayern come sniffing for him. CHO was an absolute star among boys in his youth days but he hurt his achilles and had a false rape allegation, he's barely 19.

So what are you doing there??
And what is being removed from your ar....?

😉
My point is that we should only allow loans where the other team WILL play the player.
What is the point of this. Surely he would be better training with us so he can work on his game than spend his time on QPR bench.
In the last 9 months he has hardly had a game.
Are you happy that a £9m player is treated in this way.

I'm sorry but my arse is not available for your inspection!

There's no guarantees to the loan system. That's not how it works....

Tbf, you'd think loaning him back to Leeds under Bielsa ought to have been perfect, but as per the downside of loaning your players you can't really expect them to take precident over the clubs own players (the flipside being why we ourselves don't like to take loans without an option to buy....).

lol 😝

But nobody can demand from a club that you loan a player to that he plays

Ok agree but surely QPR watched him play somewhere before they agreed to pay his wages ?

That's the basis for their perspective; not ours.... Even if we concede that they've wasted money, that doesn't register in terms of our cause.

Liverpool, Woolwich, United and even Chelsea have been giving their academy players a lot of game time, yet Poch and Jose both refused to give these kids minutes. I'm not calling for constant starting appearances, but they should definitely be playing cup games. Sako, Martinelli, Greenwood, Abraham, Mount, etc. are getting essential minutes and that's not mentioning Klopp's sheer insistence on fielding an entire team of kids several times in cup competitions, with Neco Williams, Van de Berg, Harvey Elliot, Curtis Jones, Liam Millar, Yasser Larouci, Joe Hardy, Leighton Clarkson, and Adam Lewis , who have all gotten senior team debuts this season, are getting valuable experience against Woolwich, Aston Villa, and Shrewsbury Town. All that and the fact that the academy favorite Paul Glatzel will definitely get minutes after returning from injury.

I know that maybe its an overreaction, and I'm certainly not asking for us to be fielding squads of U18 players, but I'm looking at a club refusing to use our only available DM (Skipp) and backup no.9 (Parrott) in games where they could have at least gotten minutes, and loaning out KWP while keeping Aurier. Outside of Winks and hopefully Tanganga, I don't know of anyone in recent memory that we actually brought from the academy to the first team regularly after the days of Bentaleb, Mason, and Kane. I'll be honest its a bit frustrating to watch. Just my two cents regarding the matter. I hate seeing us spend 10-20m on kids when we already have them and could either give them the much needed experience or loan them out so that it benefits us later. I don't really see a plan here.

He can’t give him minutes, he’s on loan at QPR!

If a player isn't ready to be selected then he will not be selected. (There will be individual nuances like manager changes during loans, loan club fit/style, homesickness whatever).

Unless of course your name happens to be KWP, who everyone is saying was ready even though he wasn't selected.

Agreed but this isn't working for Clarke or us !
Something needs to be set in place so that he can find another team not being subject to transfer windows.

It's also nearly over. Of course we seek a more successful solution for next season but no more likely to get any guarantees..... Nature of the beast.

The ex-Leeds United man was seen training with Evolution Sports Academy this week as he looks ahead to the new season.

Founder Charlie Marshall revealed that his company specialises in one-on-one training sessions and reached out to Clarke through a couple of his friends.

Marshall exclusively told SpursWeb “He is looking very sharp so far this pre-season and his head is clearly so focused on the season! He puts in 110% in every session we have together which makes it clear as to why he’s already making a great name for himself at such a young age."

“His dribbling skills are class, very fast feet in tight spaces. He’s very direct and runs at defenders with his pace and has a quality delivery to go with it. Some would call him an old school winger in the fact he is so direct and looks to deliver the ball across the box as much as he can.”

“I think his raw pace will scare a lot of full-backs. All defenders will agree that a winger/forward who is always looking to run at you is one to worry about."

“He keeps talking about shooting sessions with Harry Kane to look up to the way he finishes. Also, Son as they are similar positions so he will be sure to learn a lot from him.”

That's a season-long loan to Norwich sorted then!
