It won't if the season ticket holders and the fans don't go. You're assuming capacity for every game. If Sonny goes, we lose the Korean market. If Harry goes, a lot of fans will come fewer times. There's no point in having a world class stadium for a 2nd class team.

I don't think anyone will turn up for our next game or future games.

The new stadium is really the biggest white elephant imaginable given the new normal.

For the naive among us who think we've never had it so good since Levy dipped his snout in the trough

Maybe the 80s and 90s weren't so bad after all. And this was before we hit the Sky tv jackpot

Very fair tweet. The world has shifted though, hasn't it? Football has been completely taken over by money in the 20 years of ENIC (and surely they deserve their share of blame). But Spurs run the way they were in the previous 20 years would probably be a yo-yo.

I just don't understand the impetus to constantly whinge over them - they're going to keep spending within their margins and it's not as if they're rejecting offers from spend happy oil sheikhs.

I've been saying it all along. Its NOT a football ground. It's an all purpose equal opportunities venue.

I don't get this argument at all, if it is only a football ground it gets used about 24 times a season, if its used for other events you double that, it just pays more in to the coffers of the club, what's wrong with that?

Also I really don't like the line of the new ground being a white elephant, I waited well over a decade for a season ticket at the lane and it was never going to happen, enlarging the capacity is a form of democratisation, more fans can go to the game than ever before.

I do caveat this by saying that the season ticket is overpriced and this creates a massive rod for their own backs when the football being played is turgid but that doesn't mean building a new ground was wrong.

And to appear wise post covid by calling it a white elephant misses a big key point. Say we end up with a 50% capacity cap at the start of the season, the old ground would be letting in about 18000 people, this one is letting in 30k+ this is still progress for those who want to go to the game.

It is a Multi Sports and Entertainment complex. Built primaraly with NFL in mind.

These were the words from our very own business development manager.

A cash cow for ENIC in which we are the Anchor Tennants and will be paying for until 2050

What I find so cute is this misguided belief some have that the revenue and profits from Lady Ga Ga , Steelers v Redskins, Fury v Joshua etc will be used to invest in the squad of Tottenham Hotspur.

Ok, so let's look at the places designed for football, like the old WHL ground, I take it you've never had your view blocked by one of the East Stand supports? Or we could take Wembley where you're miles from the pitch and the roof is faulty and leaks on you.

You honestly think that the new ground wasn't built for football, when it has to be converted to be used for NFL?

Look keep your arguments to things that make sense, this is really a nothing argument, to make a venue versatile is just good business sense, what are you losing in this?

At some point the penny will drop for most fan's that the football side of things makes up a small part of enics portfolio.
I don't think many have realised this yet, our football team are not the number one priority in the stadium, because primarily it's an NFL one many have had the wool pulled over their eyes.

Totally agree.

We build a stadium that will double-is our income even without the extra events and, regardless of where that money has come from, people use it as a stick to beat Levy with.

The contradictions on here are laughable.
Levy sells Carrick, Berbativ, Modric, Bale etc for big money and, even though they were kicking and screaming to leave, this means Levy is only interested in profits and is a bad chairman.

Levy holds onto Jan, Toby, Eriksen, trying everything he can to keep them, which results in Eriksen going for peanuts and Levy is a bad chairman and should of sold them when he could of got big money for them.

A but of a double standard.

It's an NFL stadium that allows football to be used many fans forget this.

Nah, it's a football stadium that was designed and built so that it can be converted to hosting NFL and other events.
Why else would they have put all the time, effort and money into studying acoustics and building the giant wall.

Either way the fact remains that it will double-ish our match day income and despite what others might think, we will receive, at least, some of the profits from other events.

How anyone can construe the stadium as a bad thing just highlights the agenda of "Levy is bad".

He can and should be criticised for some things but not this.

The stadium is the footballing equivalent of the maginot line. Like Woolwich this was devised to challenge in an other era that had long been superseded by Soverign wealth funds and exponential increases in broadcast revenue. It’s still an important revenue stream but can never be the great leveller that it would have once been.

I think its still pretty important - look how many teams are planning new stadiums - Milan, Roma, Everton, and others doing huge refurbishment Real, Barca.

FFP has left it as an obvious way to increase revenue.
