In hope the PL come to their sense and makes logical changes to this farce here's the first one..

If we don't have a VAR incident where they forensically rewind and replay a potential cough in slow motion (including figuring out the exact direction it was aimed at) then the game's dead.

Only a question of time before someone does a bicycle kick and inadvertently farts in a defender's face. Surely someone would need to see replay after replay to determine if it was an intentional anal emission ?

Straight red to anyone that kicks the ball too hard in case it injures somebody. If any two players go for the same header without wearing helmets then each get a red card. Anybody that works too hard could be seen as intentionally producing excess sweat that they could fling at other players as they run past so whoever covers the most ground in a match gets a 3 match ban.

Joking aside, spitting and coughing at other people is scummy and grim regardless of whether there is a pandemic and if the ref misses if then I'm fine with VAR sending people off for that. A bloke up north got jailed for 13 months for spitting at somebody in March so they'll be lucky if they get off with a red.

They need to focus on fixing the current VAR rules and would like to have the VAR team and the ref have mics so we can actually understand some of the decisions.

This is nonsense. They wouldn't be playing if they'd tested positive, so it doesn't matter if they cough., does it?
I'm with the people who think the rule-makers need to take the plank out of their own eye before they try to remove a speck of dust from someone else's.

Just seen the Olympic disallowed goal.
How about all offsides are decided by the position of feet?
And VAR decisions must be made within seconds not minutes?

Should be within ten seconds. Anything more and it’s not clear and obvious.

Football should ideally have no VAR of any kind, or at the very most VAR for red card violent conduct stuff that occurs off the ball.

If you absolutely must do it though (and in other sports where there is arguably more of a role and less of a tradeoff for replay ie American football) this comment is spot on.

They shouldn't be able to slow it down either, and neither should the broadcast.

A foul or handball or offside that isn't perceptible in real time is in a very genuine metaphysical sense not real and not accurate if enforced.

Agreed that we shouldn’t have VAR at all. It’s mostly terrible.

Also agree that it shouldn’t be viewed in slow mo. It’s supposed to be clear and obvious, as in someone being two yards offside, or knocking the ball in with their hand. Refs are human (well, most of them) and will make mistakes in a game. VAR should be a 2nd chance to spot those errors, not an opportunity to spend ten minutes watching a slow motion replay on a loop to see if a striker grazed a defender’s shoulder on their way to a tap-in.
