Foyth, Lamela, Dier, Sanchez, Lo Celso

All Spanish speakers, other than Dier who speaks Portugese which is close enough I guess.

Pretty sure Dier speaks Spanish as well. I’ve heard him say several words and phrases and must admit he seems to speak pretty well.

He might even speak Spanish better than Kane speaks English.

He does and so does Dele who’s been doing Spanish lessons for 3 years now

Think pre-season training begins on Monday (10th August), after players have had 3 weeks off after end of season, .

Problem is UEFA deciding to stick to their insane schedule of 5th and 8th September for meaningless Nations League fixtures - with PL starting on Saturday 12th September.

So that gives JM about 3 weeks to train with players then losing half of them for these meaningless internationals for 2 weeks.

So any preseason freindlies will have to be a mix of first team players not at internationals with Spurs u23's making up the numbers.

Only benefit will be the likes of Cirkin, White and Tanganga should get plenty of playing time - along with a few others

It all seems ridiculous timings as usual. I suppose the players won’t need fitness work though unless they’ve been on the mega lash for three weeks.

I wonder now under Mourinho whether we will see a few players picking up “injuries” ahead of international games. Something that hasn’t happened enough in the past.

Jose Mourinho enjoys a good moan about fixture scheduling and the start of next season is certainly going to provide the Tottenham Hotspur boss with every opportunity to do so.

The Spurs players are expected to return to Hotspur Way on August 17 after a brief recharge on their holidays between the protracted last season and the next one.

However, the players will have only been back in training for less than three weeks when they will have to head off on international fixtures before the Premier League season has even begun.

Harry Kane & Co, for example, will be travelling to Iceland on September 5 with England in the Nations League and then making their way to Denmark on September 8 to play again.

Assuming that the players return to Tottenham for a recovery day the next afternoon and then only return to full training the next day, that means Mourinho will only have two days to fully prepare his players for their first game of the Premier League season if it is scheduled for the opening date of Saturday, September 12.

There is no resting up after that for Spurs as they begin their Europa League journey in the second qualifying round just days later on September 17.

If they are successful in Europe, Spurs will be playing matches every couple of days from then on in the Premier League and in Europe as the Europa League third qualifying round follows the following week on September 24.

Then the play-off round arrives on another week later on October 1. At least all of the qualifying rounds contain of just one leg.

Just when Mourinho might think he's about to get some time to work with his players, a particularly packed international break arrives.

England welcome Wales in a friendly during that break on Thursday, October 8, then Belgium in the Nations League on October 11 and then Denmark three days later.

Spurs will be hoping they are still in the Europa League at that point and with the group stages, the Premier League and the League Cup schedule yet to be announced - although hopefully not containing sides in Europe at that stage - all before yet another international break in November, Mourinho is going to have plenty of fixture gripes to get off his chest.

PL is starting the season a good month later than last season due to covid - but frankly it would have been far more sensible to start the season at the end of September/first week in October in order to fit in a normal pre-season training (6-7 weeks) after the players holiday.

However because UEFA have insisted on enlarging the postponed Euros 2020 to summer 2021, the end date of PL has had to stay in the same place, which means the season is a month shorter

So a shortened pre-season (which will increase the chances of muscular injuries such as hamstrings in the early part of the season) plus a season a month shorter than it should be but the same number of matches = major fixture congestion = over tired players.

UEFA has caused the problem in 2 ways :
1. Enlarging Euros to more teams = longer length of tournament, which is not only causing a problem to this season but due to its lrength will truncate next season's pre-season with players arriving back from Euros with minimal time for a pre-season

2 Insisting on continuing a meaningless tournament introduced last season, called the Nations League, to replace freindlies. It would have been easier to cancel those freindlies this season to give everyone a breathing space.

Sadly the buffoons are too keen to enlarge the bloated UEFA coffers and their own bloated salaries using players for whom they don't pay (the clubs do) and nor do they care about the health consequences on the players as the players are not their employees.

I hope JM does persuade players to fein injuries to get out of intenationals, but sadly the players like playing games regardlesss of the fat that it might catch up with them 3-6 months later

Really going to need the squad and do not want too many fringe players going out on loan.

The Euros haven’t been enlarged though? It’s the same amount as last time. They can’t exactly reduce it now, when most teams are already qualified and the fixtures have been decided

7 poxy internationals in just under 11 weeks...... FFS

Harry and the boys need to start tactically working out when they're going to 'pick up slight knocks' - it's what virtually every other team in the Premier League does.

Jose has probably got a calendar with all the exact dates on them..... At lest I hope he has.

If we're always playing, Son, Kane and Moura then there is no one else to come in and take the pressure off..... We need another Llorente type signing as there's a chance we could be up for 60 plus games between September and May.

Crazy

Edit: Actually over 70!!

If the EFL keeps it's normal format and we enter and we progress to the final in all comps we could play 68 games this season.

Here's Harry Kane's potential schedule until Christmas:

That is just insane. Knowing Harry, he will want to play every game as well. Could never see him feigning an injury. But, having said that, with this schedule there will more likely be no feigning required !

Still, at least we have out back-up strikers.... oh wait...

If we cant qualify for the UL group stages without Harry then we dont deserve to be there, he shouldn't even be in the squad , lets hope Jose has a plan B which doesnt involve Harry in all these Qualifying games
