GLC is by far the better than the 4 guys mentioned and the only player listed with any creativity.

it would be crazy to play any of those guys over him. He would be better than any of Rakitic, Alli, Winks or PEH. Plus without him in the line-up we would have zero creativity and have to resort to relying on Lame to play way to deep to get the ball and create magic out of nothing.
Did you just say GlC, an absolute nothing player with one assist all season, is more creative than Rakitic?

At 32 he is a lot more limited in what he can do compared to when he was in his prime.

He's probably more limited in his ability to be a box-to-box warrior at 32 than he is in his ability to make line-splitting, chance-creating passes.

And for a team that's lacking in that department as you mention, I see no reason to turn our nose up at someone with those attributes.

The skepticism about PEH is plausible and well-argued, but so long as Rakitic still has it physically (and it's not like his game was ever dependent on physical explosiveness) he's a top player.

Yes without a doubt.

The assist thing goes to show how crap the assist stat is.

Watch a lot of the Kane and Son goals after the Covid break and you will see GLC working great with them to create the goals.

Being creative is not just making the last pass it is about creating the situations that open a defense up or lead to scoring a goal.

Again I think it depends on who he is playing ahead of. If he is starting over GLC with Winks and PEH that’s a problem.

Even if he is starting over Ndombele or the Ndombele that is not really ideal.

Rakitic is a vastly superior player in every regard

Comments like this make us the laughing stock thinking we have world beaters on our books.

This story has been doing the rounds about Rakitic for a while, no real strong sources seem to be around though.

In an interview with Offside Mag, a Spanish sports website, the central midfielder - who was playing for Sevilla at the time - was asked about his thoughts on the decision of Fifa to fine then-president of the Croatian Football Federation, Vlatko Markovic, for comments he made saying that "in no way could a gay man play in the national team" and that "fortunately, football is only played by healthy people".

Asked to respond, Rakitic allegedly said that while he respects gay people, he would no more want them in his life than he would a black person, a fat person or a dwarf.

"I respect homosexuals, but I do not want those people in the locker room. I would not leave a team for that, because I respect a homosexual equal to a black, a fat or a dwarf, but if possible I prefer not to have gays in my life," he allegedly said.

Sevilla keep on winning the EL because they're incapable of doing anything in the much superior CL. Shit, they were even knocked out by Leicester!

It's their level and everyone at the club knows it.

Also, what one foreign clubs success has got to do with us is beyond me. I mean we weren't even in the EL this season. It's hard to win something if you're not even in it!

:sandro:

Also, we're going to be fucked next season. I suspect we'll look back on last season as being halcyon days in comparison.

Levy and ENIC have given up.

Sounds like a complete and utter cunt to me. Yeah those comments were made 8 years ago but people don't change that much.

I bet him and Suarez are good buds.
