Well he is making one sound point, Liverpool is a 100pts/season team, it's not enough that we pick 80 pts, we need to be ordinally first, and for that, we need Liverpool to dip (pun intended). 2016\17 would have got us a title in some seasons but not that one, so we need to look at competitors because that's the read obstacle to winning the title.
Everton, Villa, Leeds, whoever can play nice football but they are 1-2 pivotal injuries away from losing pace real fast. Man utd are all over, City lost, Woolwich aren't there, and Chelsea is a wild card. So unless Liverpool loses a lot of ground this season we will have a hard time translating good form to first place

The thing is it’s not hard to believe Liverpool will drop.

That team have been exceptional for two seasons with relatively few injuries and little rotation.

To carry that run of form over a third season normally would be ambitious, let alone with COVID

Not anyone can win this year's title but my belief is that if any of 6 teams puts in a 10 game stretch with a haul between 26 and 30 points they will really take some catching.

Liverpool and City are still favourites but there are now maybe 3 or 4 other teams who could gain belief from the lack of solidity of those 2

I look at our squad and think we are a player short but we have the manager who will see an opportunity.

The games against West Ham and Burnley will say a lot about us.

Prior to the United game we were hopeful but suddenly and nearly from nowhere we are being touted as outside bets for the title. 4 games in!!

How we handle it is the question. Teams will now sit back. They have no choice. Are we good enough??
If teams sit back then they are going to be fucked ,
You only have to look at the Newcastle game ,
9 times out of 10 that’s us taking a 4-0 lead in at half time, Everton Vs Liverpool next weekend is the game to watch, if Everton win then it’s going to be tough for Pool to retain the title .

Newcastle were average on the day, we were profligate and to cap it off we got screwed over. I doubt however other teams would be quite as accommodating as Newcastle were in that first half. But equally not forgetting that on the day I thought we were good but not brilliant.

Liverpool can lose next week although I don't think they will but even if they did they are more than good enough to go on that 10 game run I talked about.

We have 3 or 4 players who have it in them to grab this season and us right up there. Let's hope and see if one or two rise to the challenge, but the chance appears to be there.

I agree but then the focal point is if and how much will Liverpool drop, and not on how well we perform (assuming we’ll be in the 75-85 pts range at the end of the season). That Cundy just thinks Liverpool will stay strong and that’s why Spurs won’t win it. I think Liverpool will dip but unless we get 85pts I can’t see us snatching it from them as they won’t fall that much.

I think they well could.

I can’t remember them being so convincingly torn apart as they were against Villa. how they recover from that will set the tone for the remainder of their season imo.

one key thing is teams don’t think they’re invincible anymore

The difference between this and last season is the fear factor has gone - much as over time Utd, City and especially Woolwich lost that fear factor they start finding teams suddenly willing to take them on - Leeds and Villa have shown that the Liverpool back four, when put under pressure, are not that good. Just as the aforementioned teams all found out that once people believed they could score against you, suddenly it gets a whole lot harder to win week in week out.

It's not impossible for Liverpool to stay healthy and have another 99 point season but my guess would be far closer to 89 ... for sure I fancy us to beat them, in fact any team with a decent front three and attacking FB's is going to give them a problem ... they will still score 85 goals as last year but for sure they will concede a whole lot more.

As others have already said it’s the fear factor that’s gone with pool now , last season most teams just came and rolled over to get there tummy tickled and not get a pasting, now villa have shown if you go at them there is a chance you can get something from the games against them hopefully more teams will try and play for the points, anyhow it’s still anyone’s league really, hopefully around Christmas time we will see who is still in the running for it and hopefully it’s us!

I would be very surprised if any club will get to 90 points this year

To be honest, even against Woolwich their defence looked a bit shaky

If Everton do a Leicester this season I will lose my sh!t.........

It would prove that the football Gods hate us.

The media hate us but I can see them trying to push "The Fairytale" of Everton winning the league.......

I've said it once and I'll say it again.... I will lose my sh!t!

In order for that to happen Everton will have to get lucky with injuries.

They don't have the strength in depth particularly up front. If DLC gets injured who will they play instead?

Everton can’t really do a Leicester in the substantive sense. They bought big and spent wide, no doping or taking a relegation squad to the title.

We are overhyping Everton now because they started really well. But their squad depth is shallow. Allan injury for a month will put them backwards.

Anyway if they do win fair play to them. Proper club with history and far less cunty than their city compatriots. Not a gang of chavs like LCFC

Didn't they lose Richarlison & Allan in their last match?

I know he is Chelsea through and through, but he did wear our shirt. So I can never quite understand why is he hates us with such a passion. I'm no Palpatine but I can feel the hatred flow inside him when it comes to us.

You would have thought he would have a tiny bit of affection as he did play for us.

Peculiar but then that's Chelsea cunts for you I guess.
I think he deliberately goes out of the way to slag us in order to ingratiate / connect himself with Chelsea. I remember him celebrating when we dropped points to West Ham in the tear Leicester beat us to the title. Why would an ex-pro need to say anything so publicly? When he played for them he was shite and they were shite but since they bought success it makes his crappy playing career look more respectable. I have stopped listening to Talk Sport largely because of him and the rest of the anti Spurs tossers.

Everton V Liverpool is a real puzzler on what would be the best result.

The heart says an Everton win but the last thing we need is for them to build up a head of steam in this strange old season.

Best we can hope for is a hard battle 0 0 draw.

Honestly don’t know. But a single match is never a good view. A long period with matches coming hot and fast is where the squad depth shows

Sure... I'm just curious... They might be weakened against the dippers (and beyond).

We said this before with Leicester.....

Leicester had 4 players who played exceptionally for nearly all that season.

It won't happen but Everton could push for top 4 possibly.

Liverpool will have too much for them next weekend if Mane is back and fit.

Talk of a swift demise is more hope than founded on fact or evidence.
