Just rewatching on MOTD, and I love that the first goal is as a direct result of Pep's rigid "we will beat you with football" tactics. I am not a huge fan of Mourinho's football admittedly, however, the way it exposed the weakness in Guardiola's footballing precept was a delight.

Indeed. Can't say I love ceding so much possession but said I'd take some pragmatism for winning football/trophies. Jose is a master at it and today he schooled Pep who doesn't seem to have much of an answer to such teams, e.g. Leicester

Immense game. I was on the edge of my seat with every Spurs attack, because it felt like we had genuine venom and ability to score. Contrast that with Man City's attacks, which we had under control and besides one or two instances did not seem to raise my heart rate too much. I was wondering what the commentators were going on about about "Spurs fans not liking what they are seeing if they were in the stadium"; I'm pretty sure everyone there would be buzzing off of our almost undefeated season, and a 2-0 win over Manchester City with a Mourinho masterclass with the entire team on board. In case sammyspurs sammyspurs has been too humble to quote himself from 11th November..... (what's the score on Thursday mate?)
I hope this isn’t as disastrous as the 2-0 win last season.
That didn’t count as we only had two shots and scored them both, and they missed a penalty and 22 shots.

What a bad 3pts that was, I’d hate to win 2-0 again.
It has shades of the Southampton 5-1, where we should be ashamed because we only drew the first half.
Foyden is also one of the best young players in world football.
On Foden.... I was nervous when he came on as he seems to be in excellent form. Did he even touch the ball?

Incredible masterclass today. I think it was a dead cert that Mourinho would adopt this tactic (again) against City but to make it work requires a well drilled, disciplined, motivated and fit team. Hats of to the boss & the players. Worked so well that we were the better side in the 2nd half and City had no answers...outstanding defending leading to City overplaying or over hitting his passes out for GK’s.

This is why there will always be question marks around Pep too. For someone billed as a progressive, he is stubbornly rigid in his thinking and style .

Anyway, I’ll let the oil sheikhs worry about that.

Not sure that I can give a MoM after that. Seems a bit pointless when the whole team put in such an incredibly physical performance just a couple of days after flying around the world playing in pointless international friendlies.

Top of tree tonight feels good but there is a long way to go yet. Loving the ‘one game at a time’ mentality from the coach/players too

Jeez, forgot all about this.

What a goal that would have been - still can't actually believe Son didn't shoot.

Ndombeles press resistance at the beginning of that move is what makes it all happen too - they can't get near him. This is why he needs to play a little deeper for us, in my opinion. No one else can do that for us in midfield.

I was suprised tonight when Son was on the right with Bergwijn on the left. In hindsight, it makes so much sense to have Son running in behind away from Walkers recovery pace. You can be damn sure if the first goal was off the other wing Walker would've been a lot closer than Cancelo was.

Recorded for posterity...
