Been impressed whenever I've seen Okedina play.

Looks the best centre back prospect I have seen since Caulker - though I'd like to think he could probably end up better.

Agreed he's looked really good over the last year, was in the shadows a bit before that.

He's got a fair amount of competition in that CB/RB type of space, with some sorting out I suspect in the summer - a few names :

TJ Eyoma - loan at Lincoln after season of train/no play and a season recovering from injury. Will he return to the form of pre-season 2018 where he looked very good.

Malachi Walcott - Looked an excellent CB last season (with fleeting appearance v Leipzig), but been out injured for circa 6/9 months so uncertain what he will look like on return.

Lyons-Foster - Looked a Rolls Royce defender a year or two ago. Seems not to have developed as much recently

Possibilities from Ferguson/Lavenier/Omole all brought in last summer, first looked excellent in a streamed match before injury, the second an excellent E youth prospect before being overtaken by James and Lamptney at Chelsea.

Cirkin can play CB, but better at LB

All the above are around age 20.

At Academy Year 2 (age 17/18), there are Lusala (RB/CB), Muir and Paskotsi, all looking good prospects coming through, followed a year younger by Jordan Hackett (LB/CB) who is probably even better and the u16's have a couple of excellent candidates.

Its probably our most competitive position.

Rumours here that Anthony Georgiou will be joining league leaders AEL in Cyprus. Found this online also:

Tottenham open talks over permanent transfer of midfielder (footballinsider247.com)

Thank for posting

Makes sense as at 23 (soon to be 24) he's older than some first team players such Steve Bergwijn, and other than one EL match versus Cypriot opposition he's not got very close to Spurs first team nor done that well in terms of playing time on loans such as Ipswich either as LW or LB.

Best of luck to him - from a Cypriot family so could be a very good fit.

The manager has lost the services of three loan players though with Niall Ennis’s return to parent club Wolves confirmed earlier this week and the loans of Jack Roles and Sam Hughes coming to an end after both players returned to their clubs with injuries.

Other bench players are seen as more versatile; Roles has missed games while away with Cyprus Under-21s; and that there is probably more competition in the Brewers’ midfield than in other areas of the squad.

In terms of energetic, driving midfielders, Roles is up against Joe Powell, Ryan Edwards, Steven Lawless and now academy product Ciaran Gilligan, while Stephen Quinn is always likely to be picked when fit.

Ben Fox is tending to be on the bench as the most versatile of the midfielders in terms of the different positions he can play. But the manager says that Roles can still fight his way back into the first team reckoning.

Asked if Roles was fit and available, Buxton said: “Jack is fine. I have a job to do in terms of picking the side and the squad and Ben Fox can cover a number of positions when he’s on the bench.

“Jack went away with Cyprus and missed a couple of games and he goes away with Cyprus again on Monday, so he’s missed games when he might have had opportunities, especially in the first international break. While he was away, the boys did well in that area of the pitch – and he’s found himself out of the squad at this time.”

Roles’ absence with Cyprus from Monday will also rule him out of a possible chance to impress, with the Brewers playing their dead rubber EFL Trophy game against Fulham Under-21s on Tuesday night. But he is also an inadvertent casualty of Burton’s struggling start in League One.

“When we brought Jack in, it was as a ball-playing midfielder who can play higher up the pitch, even as a 10, and create opportunities,” said Buxton.

“We’ve had to go for a bit more solidity in the middle of the park because of the situation we find ourselves in at the wrong end of the table. Hopefully, if we start to pick up some points and Jack continues to train well, he’ll get his opportunity. I’ve had a conversation with him and explained what he needs to do to get back into the picture.”

That's from month's ago, explanation from the now sacked manager.

Their problem was not scoring enough and letting in too many goals leading to them losing too many goals - despite him packing the defence, which in turn meant there was no room for a cm who could create and score goals.

New manager only a week or so ago, but no word yet on Roles loan and whether he stays or not and whether new manager will use a creative cm.

See above. Roles has left Burton.

Good points but his inter career is potentially a problem getting a loan in the lower divisions.

CCV at last makes his debut for Bournemouth today.
Josh Onomah starts for Fulham..will need to impress to get in the PL SQUAD. If not will prob have to go on loan. Just had 3 months w/o playing. Or Fulham may shift a couple in the window to let him in.

Onomah isn't registered in their Premier League squad.

Though I do wonder now he's back from injury whether or not they register him. Parker loves him and he was getting games in the league before injury.
