Ten Hag would also have been a gamble. Ajax are set up as a club, they go about their business the same way whoever the manager is. Ten Hag has won them the title yes, but it’s very hard to judge him as a manager based solely on his history in the Dutch League. When Poch signed, I dare to say we were an EL club. Played only once in the Champions League and a few EL KO rounds and that’s about it. Few years forward and Poch truly put us on the map. A few of UCL football which culminated with the final, a couple of title challenges, great facilities, world class players.
We’ve got the unique oportunity to go and sign a top manager, instead we’re fucking around with has beens and Mr. xGs. Thinking of it, it’s like Liverpool would have signed Eddie Howe instead of Klopp a few years ago because he was overachieving with Bournemouth.
The sad thing is that the fans seem to accept and entertain this idea. We’ve missed two good managers already. I understand one of them was very difficult to get, but I don’t get why we didn’t pursue ten Hag more.
Yeah we did.
To say we got nothing from the Poch era is just madness to me. Loved watching us play most weeks for several years. Insane Champions League moments. Within striking distance of a league title once or twice. Had we won a cup I don't think I'd feel much different about his tenure than I do without one.Yeah we did.
A squad good enough to reach numerous semi finals and finals, including the biggest club competition of them all and blew the lot.
Of course some will put all the blame on Levy which is unreasonable.
Hope so.
You don’t know that is the case. We might already have agreed a deal for Potter a few weeks agoThe sad thing is not just the quality / experience of managers we are considering or rumoured to be approaching but also the fact that we seemingly have to go to them instead of receiving lots of enquiries from top drawer people.
It's a sad indictment of Daniel Levy's reputation as Chairman and a huge indicator of where our problems truly lie.

After the unforgivable summer of no transfers which was a bad blow to Poch's time here, the club have invested pretty well in players, but fudged it by hiring a manager long over the hill. Get the next hire right and improve our defence and we should be back in the hunt, I'm not quite on board with the doom & gloom.
PotterWe need to get someone already at a top club in the chance that he brings half the squad with him
Potter with White, Bissouma and LamptyWe need to get someone already at a top club in the chance that he brings half the squad with him
Good points.
Couldn't give you an agree though as I don't agree that we've invested well in players.
We've spent plenty of money but not on the quality of players required.
Who’s that down to is a different issue.
This has resulted in us having a bloated squad of too many average players.
Absolutely. For all the no trophies under Poch talk who wouldn't want those 5 seasons again? Whoever is the new manager would have done amazingly to match that record and the football played. As a fan i loved the middle 3 seasons in particular, couldn't wait for the next game. I wouldnt trade that for mid table, dull football and a league cup. I would have thought after this season most would agree. Hopefully if we do stumble across another good manager then the board won't shit the bed again when it comes to backing him.To say we got nothing from the Poch era is just madness to me. A bit harsh but I do get your point.Half of the fucks aren’t even average PL players.... Winks, Sissoko, Davies, Aurier and Sanchez are below that level, the standard in the PL has improved and we are left with these championship level fools costing us week in, week out
I said top club
Nah the debate with Potter is that he's got Brighton playing great football and creating many chances; but their actual results and goal scored tally aren't very good. So the question is how much is he to blame for the latter. I don't think there's any bias against him because he's English. If Potters name was Graham Potterinho I bet you’d all be foaming at the mouth
