Tottenham are in talks with Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici.

It is understood that Spurs have made the former Inter Milan and Chelsea boss the leading candidate to replace Jose Mourinho. And they are keen to bring former Juventus sporting director Paratici in too.

Mourinho left the north London club in April and they have been looking for a replacement ever since.

Conte left Inter last month after steering them to their first Serie A title for 11 years. The Italian has also previously won the Premier League with Chelsea and Serie A with Juventus during a glittering managerial career.

Who is Paratici?

Paratici was previously Chief Football Officer for Juventus and worked with Conte at the club.

He left Juventus this summer and was immediately linked to Spurs, who have been searching for a director of football as well as a new manager.

honestly can't see a better manager to terrorize and sell our cloggers. With Conte is his way or the highway.

Our cloggers will just shit their pants and fold, then when Conte asks for players Levy will haggle and get N’average or someone. Conte will meltdown because he knows we can’t compete with City, Liverpool and Chelsea and we will be back again here. Only still needing a rebuild.

Conte would work with different owners, not ours. We have to stop caring about the big names, the Hollywood bollocks and accept uncle Joe is a tight fucker and we cannot afford another Jose like implosion.

I don't think the squad needs that much rebuilding. It needs some work, but it is not a trainwreck. I also don't think we've been a laughing stock, but I am not going to be arguing over fan narratives in a thread on something else.

My concern over Conte is that he has a clear pattern of behaviour, much like Mourinho did, and that it is something that is not planned in support of, it is something you plan around. Which leaves me with the question over whether it is worth hiring him instead of someone else who could be planned with, instead.

Agree with you completely on the squad, I think how "bad" it is is drastically over stated here.

I think there needs to be a clear out, and of course some key additions, but I dont think its the several year over haul as commonly stated.

I DO think more important is a clean slate, someone to reinvigorate the players. Which is one of my key issues with Poch, I fear itll fall into old habits very quickly if he returns.

On the other side, Conte, high energy and passion, huge work rate - could be just what they need.

He fell out with Inter for that reason, but essentially that means he wanted something that did not match the actual reality of the club. If they want to balance the books and so are going to be selling, and he doesn't, then it isn't a sign that he had realistic expectations about where the club was. And would be in for a very big disappointment at Spurs.
So?

Not meant antagonistically, but really - so what if thats how it plays out?

If he comes in, wins the league/some trophies/gets us back in contention and wants backing, that seems fair.

If we refuse and he leaves, we are ledt in a far better position than we are now - so is it really something to worry about?

Real Madrid and PSG are poles apart within the football hierarchy than Spurs and Everton. Would expect Everton to have poached Zidane from Real Madrid?

This is all about PSG not looking like cunts, there will up uproar if we pull this off, it will be one of the biggest coups ever in the history of the game.

It's far more likely that he stays. And also far more likely they sack him a few months down the road as it asserts their control. They can do this because they are backed by an entire Country's Wealth (one of the wealthiest in the World at that).
It's really not that big a deal, and I highly doubt PSG give too much of a shit.

I understand what you’re saying, but it kind of just backed up my point.

He’s undoubtedly a great coach and he has improved players who would have been seen as “average” before he arrived.

However, just because our fans would turn our nose up at Lukaku doesn’t take away from the fact he was a 70 odd million striker. Would he get that kind of support from the Spurs board? More than likely not.

We are in the new stadium, our income is set to increase significantly - and so is our spending.

How much did we spend in Pochs last window, for example.

Yes, Levy is tight - but he is predictable. And X% of turnover to buys is a pretty consistent view, and our turnover is set to rocket...

What happens if you can't sell the cloggers because no one has the money to buy them? Finding buyers this year is not going to be an easy thing, since just about everyone outside England is broke.

One of Levys greatest pitfalls, he needs to be prepared to give them away if need be for the benefit of the squad

Excellent. Hopefully that will be Hitchen in the bin.

It's a very Spursy dilemma to have, we want to have a big manager but we're scared of the way he will rock the boat and piss Levy off, demand players and further damage the club the seems pretty vulnerable right now.

I reckon this is part of the reason why Potter was a popular choice, he is a more calm manager that could gain some form of respect from Levy in a long term battle against him kind of like Poch ... but even after his overachievements couldn't squeeze any more blood out of the stone.

This club does my head in.

He got alot of the money for Lukaku from selling Icardi for like 50m. Inter haven't really been splashing the cash.
