News coming fast. It would be just like Levy to miss out over 3m
Don't worry the Oracle of Delphi which is Hercules has said that Conte is coming.Guys, don't get ahead of ourselves, first of all we need a confirmation from Hercules.
For me, after ETH signed the extension with Ajax, Poch is who my heart wanted and Conte was who my head wanted. Will be pleased with either.I must be the only one here who would be delighted both with the Poch and the Conte options. Very different approaches, maybe, but both would give me the feeling that we are doing something significant to move forward
I still find very hard to believe that Conte would be interested in the Spurs job, though. I think he wants to win big things (Title/CL) pretty quickly and I cannot see Levy supporting this enough.
Both got pros and cons... I would love Poch back at some point, but wonder if it might be too soon... Conte is a great coach, but is ex-Chelsea...I must be the only one here who would be delighted both with the Poch and the Conte options. I would be delighted with Conte as it would mean levy is going to back him , and he will make us compete , I get the feeling with poch it will be the same old , selling before buying and we still have Dier winks and sissoko playing next season!I must be the only one here who would be delighted both with the Poch and the Conte options. To me there is only one ex-Chelsea: Mourinho, because of the person he is. The others? Well, at some point every manager will be ex-Chelscum lol! Both got pros and cons... I would love Poch back at some point, but wonder if it might be too soon... Conte is a great coach, but is ex-Chelsea...
Roy Hodgson on the other hand is all pros... can't see any downsides.
It was mixed. I didn't see him in that way and lots of others didn't either. I'd take him back if he wanted to be here, because he was one of the best midfielders in the league for many years. I'd take him back depending on his motivation though. If he didn't really want it, then I wouldn't... was only wondering about it in the context of Conte, because he's just won a title under Conte this season...
I think it will work with Poch too, but there will always be time for him to come backI would be delighted with Conte as it would mean levy is going to back him , and he will make us compete , I get the feeling with poch it will be the same old , selling before buying and we still have Dier winks and sissoko playing next season!
Sure, of course. I appreciate it doesn’t work like that. The point is more that we shouldn’t take players for the sake of it. Is Sterling really what we need? I worry that he’s the sort of player who really benefits from those around him, rather than single handedly improves the team. Jesus, likewise. Would either of these be players we targeted, independent of Kane? I don’t think we’d go near them.
Agree on City being the better destination. As long as Kane doesn’t go to UTD.
I’d take Laporte and Mahrez. I didn’t realise the latter was 30. But, regardless, I think he’s excellent and would go a long way to resolving the right side of our attack.
If Conte is the guy, we will spend. This was the only way we were going to have a strong chance of keeping Kane.
If Poch/ETH he'd definitely go.
Now we have a proper chance.
I admire & respect your optimism re Levy changing the habits of a lifetime.I would be delighted with Conte as it would mean levy is going to back him , and he will make us compete , I get the feeling with poch it will be the same old , selling before buying and we still have Dier winks and sissoko playing next season!
Amazing how so many refuse to believe any good news, but as soon as bad news is mentioned they instantly believe it all.
Conte's representatives would have asked for more than what the actually expect.
Levy would have offered less than he is actually prepared to pay.
Both parties will negotiate to middle ground where both are happy.
It's standard business that every manager and club will do daily.
If it is £3m difference, they'll settle on 1.5/2m
I don’t rate Sterling at allOf course Sterling is what we need, especially if he is coming with the right attitude. If we lose Kane we are going to need to improve scoring from all over the team and it is unlikely we are getting a winger with better scoring history at the PL than Sterling.
My concern would be his wages and his attitude in coming to us, but from a football perspective he would be great for what we need. A lot better than Mahrez for sure who you seem to prefer.
There's been some of that, but I'd be sad if that was the case, because for many years there were no boos. He was cheered because he was a great player. When he left he looked sad, so I don't think he left in total negativity or with bad feelings. Certain people look on it that way, but I think lots of people don't. I'd personally welcome him back and would love to see him out there again, if he wanted it!Yeah I think it was mixed, but sadly as is often the case the negative voice will be heard over the positive, and I'm sure his lasting memory of Spurs is getting booed every moment he was on the pitch.
