He (or she) would probably be spouting the same rubbish if we had just appointed Joe Kinnear.
If Fonseca signs he needs to be backed, both in terms of transfer targets but also by the fans. It will be a hard enough job without added resistance.
What we can hope for maybe is some players who he is aware of but may be under the radar of sone of the other clubs.
If he also brings a philosophy and mindset then he is arguably no worse and maybe a lot better than other names that were/have been in the hat.
If he can achieve success he could come from Outer Mongolia as far as I am concerned.

I remember, Levy and a lot of the fans wanted LVG, most of the rest wanted Frank deBoer, very few were calling for Poch
To be fair, that one was scheduled for the left side of his head.
He isn't an unknown he has a lot of experience as a manager in different leagues and levels. I know some are saying they weren't happy when Poch came in but I think there are a lot of differences.
Fonseca took over a powerhouse Porto team and led them to their worst finish in awhile, although was sacked before finishing in the league. He did dominate with a dominate Shaktar team, but then took over a Roma team who are a similar level in their league to us and did poorly with them. That is my biggest concern that in a comparable team to us he was shit.
Anything is possible but there is no indication that this is a young guy that just needs a chance like Poch, he has had chances and done nothing to show that there is more to him that the mediocre record he has.
Issue is his record so far isn’t great. Not just about big names.
Plenty will back him, as I will myself. Doesn't mean though that you have to try and polish a turd right now and make out that it would be anything other than a very poor looking appointment all things considered.

I watched Roma a bit early in the season and thought they looked pretty fun. Generally haven't paid them any attention when Zaniolo has been out injured to be honest. Underwhelming appointment at this moment and time.
I'll say this much, if you bring in a Director of Football you'd best give him some control, and im sure Paratici has been through his study of Fonseca in the past when recruiting managers for Juventus. I don't believe that it's a case of cheapest/easiest option, I'm sure he rates the guy.

This guy is not Poch. Poch made the teams he was at better and just needed a bigger job to show what he could do.
Fonseca made teams worse and failed at a similar club to us.
