You cannot move to “win things”. What if he goes to City and they finish 2nd, make the semifinals of Champions League, runners up in a close league cup final and somehow crash out of the FA cup before being handed it. He’s had a good season, but won nothing. This is the reality. Great teams don’t always win.
The frankly brilliant 1986-87 Tottenham team won nothing. Coventry City did however win a major trophy. Who do you remember most ? Trevor Peake or Richard Gough ?
Kane moving might increase his chances of winning the league, but that’s all. The only guarantee is he will be paid more.
There is absolutely no reason at all that Spurs cannot win the FA Cup, League Cup, Conference League or finish in the Top 4. Will they? Perhaps not, but I can’t guarantee they won’t any more than I can guarantee City will.
So is this about the “big” trophies being the ones that count to Kane?. These are the hardest to win. City have never won the Champions League, why will they win it guaranteed in the next few years ? Liverpool beat city to the title 14 months ago, might happen again, who knows what comes next.

I can see no reason why his salary shouldn’t be commensurate to his peers that are in the bracket of top ten players in the world. Would you say Lewandoski or Haarland should take a pay cut to move?
People have become too emotional about this. It makes sense to sell him for the player and the club. He can’t go any further with us and we are skint. It should have been a friendly parting but Levy can’t do normal.

So if City really have moved on, Chelsea seem hell bent on Lakaku, there really isn’t anywhere left to go? United at a push maybe, but with no one really looking to take Pogba off their hands that might be a problem…..

Not sure Kane has never been quick and players without pace like Teddy, Scholes and Terry go on for ages at the top. Long as he looks after himself he could be decent for a while. Obviously City will need fast players around him but they can afford that.
Still at this point £130m and Silva or Laporte I might accept.
And never Kane’s fault which will suit some on here!

Because he’s one of those Kane fans who follows the player not a club.
He’s about as big a Spurs fan as Arsene Wenger is.
As I've said before, I'll believe a player is moving to win trophies when he either takes a pay cut to do it or plays for the same wage he got at his old club.

I think in the current climate that’s about right. Harry’s great and been great but it’s clear we need to rebuild. Levy tacking on 20m on top of that is just laughable.
so we get the worst of both worlds. A player who will have a troubled mind all season, angry at the chairman for lying to him. Fans looking like idiots as they cheer him after snake and cunt jibes. And then next season provided he’s not injured we sell him for probably a lot less than 140m.
A wasted season. Resentment everywhere.
the smart chairman would have said thanks for a fantastic ten years you will always be a legend and welcome here while pocketing 140m for a player who is statistically due an injury pretty soon.
