Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I've seen and heard lot of fans say they just want to see attacking football regardless of results.
With Kane and Son both playing for the badge, if we were to attack a lot, we would win more, I can't really see how we wouldn't, they score a lot when on song.

Interestingly, I don't see a constant onslaught of attacks as "controlling football" as you invariably keep giving the ball back when you have a go. But i find that more entertaining that 47 passes trying to walk it in.
Well yeah, but that's where a decent manager will also coach the team to regain possession as quickly and efficiently as possible, you can still be in control without the ball.

No point having all of the ball but not creating chances at goal for fear of losing possession %, so there is a balance to be struck.

I don't like Conte, the persona, the fact he's ex-chav and I'm not a favourite of his football that he predominantly plays (a mid-block 3-5-2, sometimes that's a low-block 6-3-1).

He absolutely is a short term fix, which I'm not too fussed about as he hasn't left any of his previous clubs in the shit when he leaves them. There will be the snarky comments from him in press confs that I hope to turn a blind eye to whilst he's here (assuming that he is, still think there's a way to go on this and maybe Utd are being forced to play their hand over Ole??).

My personal preference should be clear now and that's a progressive manager in the shape of Potter, Ten Hag, Flick, Nagglesmann etc.... I enjoy how these managers build their squads and have the team play, it's uncompromising no matter who the opposition is, it's always brave and exciting and I feel overall better suited to Tottenham than these ego appointments.

HOWEVER, there can be no denying is ability as a manager, the difference between him and the Dinosaur is that tactically and strategically he's still relevant as a coach. He's always demonstrated that he can build a team (all be it with considerable funds spent) but I think his biggest quality is taking the team available to him and getting the most out of them on the pitch (plus additions). He is IMO one of the worlds top 5 managers.

Just have to endure a bit of mid-block and loads of Conte slow-mo cams of him shaking his fists to massage his ego. Will be better than we've had during the last 2-3 seasons. I would start to have concerns in January if we are signing 30yr old plodders on long contracts.
Happy to be corrected, but my understanding is that Conte’s greatest strength is that he is a genuine coach. He drills every element of play, over and over again, until it is second nature for the team.

He is the direct opposite of Jose in that he has a very clear idea of what he wants. It is an active, if slightly pragmatic vision, rather than a reactive one (namely, sit tight, defend, and then hoof it to Kane).

Like you, I don’t think he fits our culture at all, but he knows what he wants.

I think that was just a default position, like we have a shit manager (nuno) anyway, we might as well have a shit one that will at least serve up entertaining football.

The option of an actual good manager trumps either for me.

This is it. This is what I want to see. Have a go. Keep having a go. but when you haven't got it, be all over them like a fucking rash. I want a team of Kante's swarming them for the ball back.

That alone could negate the fact our pillocks can't string 5 decent passes together.

I have to think that Levy had his eyes opened to how stupid his decisions have been with the fan reaction on Saturday. I can’t believe this is actually happening. Conte would not come if we wouldn’t spend.

You really can't trust someone who would pass up Conte first time around for Fonseca, Gattuso and Nuno just to save money.

If this whole circus hasn't shown him that the squad is terrible and his vision of promoting youth, signing C list players to improve and having a quiet easy coach is a terrible plan, nothing will.

Agree.

The DNA stuff I think we need to look to Paratici for this, Levy's doesn't have a clue in this regard.

With Paratici, for me at least it's my big question mark, does he have a style of play that he favours, if so what? Does he care about one? I'm just going to scrutinize the signings based on their profiles and take cues from that.

I don't think those questions can be answered until post-Conte and what happens after that but one would hope that when you sign a manager to a 2 year deal that a longer strategy is being executed behind the scenes???
Does paratici have a clue either? He was the one who suggested Nuno by all accounts.
