This is a panic hire, a very good one mind you . This is no masterplan , this is crowd is getting toxic and blaming me, it will only get worse , under the bus you must go Nuno. Now Conte is a fabulous hire , but it is repairing 3 years of terrible decision making

A long weight/stand was always a good one.
It’s not a panic hire when he tried for him in the summer. It didn’t work out in the summer for multiple reasons on both sides. Nuno was a failed hire (all clubs have them) and Levy found a way to get Conte when Conte could have easily waited for United or a different club.
Rumors from Conte’s camp even said keeping Kane and signing Romero and Emerson were big factors in attracting Conte. Levy deserves a ton of credit for this.
This might look like a panic buy, but there is a method to the madness. In Conte we are getting a proven winner in his prime. Even if he stays with us for just the 18 months that his contract is for, he will have instilled a completely different mentality; one that even Poch couldn't instill. After that you can bring back a Poch or go for Potter and the aftereffect of the Conte reign should carry through and allow them to be successful. Keeping him for an extra year would reinforce this even more. Not to mention he will "force" some signings that will improve the team that we would not have otherwise made, as well as be a huge draw for said signings, as well as clear out players with the wrong mentality.
All in all, this is a win-win for now and after he's gone, unless our players are really beyond salvation, which I don't think is the case.

I don't think Conte is a panic job though (much like Jose wasn't)... He was obviously on our radar and the more things unfold the more it seems like Nuno was nothing more than a place-holder (be that for Conte or otherwise).
Not a masterplan; simply a situation that was allowed to remain fluid. We gambled and for once the chips fell in our favour and it's a welcome chance to draw a line under the post-Poch mire.
We also now have a DOF that has a fruitful working history with our new manager...... Coincidence? Masterplan? ....Again probably somewhere in between.
I wonder what Conte thinks of Dele and if he remembers him as a good player when he was a PL manager the last time round?

But I'm expecting Conte to lean heavily on our new RB Emerson Royal. He will play a huge role in providing width and crosses into the box. Will be so successful, they will refer to the partnership of coach and player as Conte Royal.
