Well, apart from the mention of Dele Alli being an option, he was spot on...Bastard, was just about to post that
Really good analysis though I thought!

Under Nuno.....they aren't world class. 4th place is up for grabs imo. Sadly i don't think it will be us though...They'll get rid of Ole soon for a better manager.
Right now they're a mess, but had enough match winners to beat us 3-0 lets' not forget.

Conte needs time. Wasn't expecting much past few games.
First take is to get Son/Kane firing again. Because if we do that then we're already far far better.
However, some of these players. They lack motivation to play for this club and they also lack ability. Yesterday despite it being ' the best XI -ish' there were some displays that were far below par technically. They all tried - Yes. But some of the crossing , passing , awareness was not good enough. These are meant to be high end professionals.
Just following on from this above.............
I disagree with this guys description of "this is very, very good. No, it wasn't but the green shoots were all there on show. The movements were all made by the players, some will say the executions was poor, that might be the case but I'd probably argue that's largely down to the timing of the pass and the run (which is the hard bit to get right, at the moment the players would be consciously thinking as opposed to them unconsciously thinking, it's not 2nd nature. Like when you learn how to drive, there's a thought process going on for every element, changing gear, braking, acceleration turning whatever, every thought makes the end process look forced and clunky).
Hope to see it thrown back in my face....
At this moment we are the biggest and not the best. Agree
Bergwijn called up as a replacement for injured Dutch players - one less for Conte to train..Almost half the First Team players (9 or 10) to train over the international break including :
Dier
Tanganga
Reguillon
Ndombele
Winks
Dele
Moura
Bergwijn
Gill
and possibly Sessegnon returning from injury
(plus GK's Gollini and Austin ..... and some of the u21;s )
The other 12 players I think have been called up for internationals
Davies - Wales
Rodon - Wales
Romero - Argentina
Sanchez - Columbia
Doherty - Ireland
Royal - Brazil
Skipp - England u21's
Hojbjerg - Denmark
Lo Celso - Argentina
Son - South Korea
Kane - England
Lloris - France
Sure and it's probably just semantics from my part but everything attempted was very basic, I've absolutely no issue with it and as I said in my first post these are encouraging green shoots but to describe these basic/rudimentary patterns as "very, very good" is massive overkill. The patterns weren't complicated and were unsuccessful. He did say "very good considering it was week 1"........
I'd say it was miles apart from Nuno-ball..... Just look how many players we have in the final 3rd during the second half of that clip...... That's the aggression that people that people have been mourning since before Poch left.

On the other habd it looks like Gil has not joined up with a Spanish squad, possibly due to his minor injury, so he might be available to train with Conte

I did quite like Davies part in them, however, him underlapping often in the half-space is where they had issues in dealing with which did create space for Emerson on the opposite flank.
Conte has shown in all of his previous jobs that he can effectively implement his patterns very quickly, I don't think what we saw vs Everton was the cause of drills but more the case of what happens when players are asked to do certain things (without a lot of training with the ball). Some of the players (Reggie & Davies) have kinda confirmed this by saying they watched a lot of videos of Inter and Chav teams. Conte's doesn't have the luxury of a pre-season, so I'm not expecting the team to adopt his systems as quickly as with his previous teams (although many of the Poch players have paled 3ATB with Poch and players like Romero are well accustomed to it, so fingers crossed they can adapt/click quickly).
Good points, will try to be more optimistic based on that.Dier, Sanchez, (debatably) Gio & Ndombele, Berg, Lucas, Giollini + Rodon, Davies, Doherty are all expendable/easily upgraded..... He might even decide he doesn't fancy Reggie or PEH.
Hard to see him not putting a few of them on the out-list between now & the summer.... A couple of young HGs to supplement the exit of Dele & Winks and we're good to look forward.
Seems crazy to see things as so hopeless.... We just picked up a WC manager... So long as we recruit well, we should make big strides.
I'm really looking forward to Conte's build-up patterns, when bedded in they are far more complex than what we attempted at the weekend, just not sure if we'll see them this season though because of not having the team for an extended period as in pre-season, this is, of course, an unknown for him too.The extent that Davies got foward suprised the hell out of me to begin with...... Such an alien concept given what we've got used to. Romero's gonna love this shit.... Defo don't want to shackle him as being the CB to sit back.... Somewhat dampens the idea of Japh playing RCB for us tho', but seasons are long and bumpy roads with plenty of games.

I'm kind of expecting the team he's gone with so far to change over time but think he's tried to gain a bit of consistency by not wanting to change things in his first two games and keep the approach/instructions quite basic. Perhaps the biggest plus was we kept a clean sheet with the oppo creating no big chances throughout the entire +90mins.
Another thing that the analysis didn't cover in the video was how easily Everton dealt with us. I'd say, Benitez expected us to play 3ATB (just as I think everyone else did) another reason why I don't think it was "very, very good".
But it's all good that we are aiming for a definitive identity for the first time in nearly 3 seasons. Our enjoyment should come in watching these players become more automated and fluid. One fascinating bit will be on our left, my gut thinks Bergwijn as WB is a better option than Reggie (there are +/- for each of cause) but I just see Bergwijn to have more control than Reggie, stronger on the ball and in the tackle and better in 1v1 situations.
