Laugh So Hard Simon Cowell GIF by America's Got Talent

Actually watching that video of his goals last season, most of them are penalties and 6-yard-box tap-ins, with the very vast majority of the goals (even from further out) being the result of someone else supplying him. I'm not necessarily saying that doesn't make him a great striker etc - Lineker made a great career of little more than finishing in some people's opinion - but does it suggest that he is all about finishing and very little else, and if so, is that ok for us?

If you compare to Kane, over the years there have been loads of goals where he has got a yard on the man in front of him before smacking one in the corner - I don't see any of those goals in that Vlahovic video, he never has to beat a man... But perhaps if you're always in the right place at the right time, you don't need to beat a man (or have effectively already done so off the ball by finding the space)... ??? :/

Yeah, but Conte is a fan of strikers staying in and around the box...as you do...

Harry Kane scored a perfect hat trick (left, right, head) from inside the 6 yard box on Friday.
What we really need is a forward who does that well and probably a midfielder who can score from outside the box regularly.
What we have is a large quantity of mids who can't score from anywhere, ever and a forward who keeps dropping deep to try and do it himself.

I wouldn't be as high on us signing Vlahovic if Conte wasn't our coach, he's a player who's a period of top coaching away from being an top player imo. Watch his first half last night playing as the lone striker vs Portugal, his link play was excellent throughout the half, hits the post with a half-chance, repeatedly making strong runs across the 6yd box begging to be picked out, very strong press.

My issue is that I just can't visualize how a Kane/Vlahovic front two would work, or Kane/Son/Vlahovic in a front three. If Kane was to be sold I'd certainly have Vlahovic as a replacement over Isak, J.David etc (though these are good players). I don't see how spending 60m plus on Vlahovic is a priority if Kane is staying put and we have weakness in nearly every other position on the field.

It won't have to work.

I could see what you describe working ok in a front 2 (whether or not he'd need a pacier, more evasive foil than Kan in the EPL I don't know), but a front 3 of him Son & Kane (or Vhalovic, Son & Dybala) as someone mentioned above) I'm not so sure....

Having Kane (Dybala) sit behind the other 2 could work I s'pose, but at that point wouldn't we just be better off buying a boss-level CAM instead?

How we build our MF, 343 vs 352 and whether Kane stays; these things remain crucial to this and other such judgement calls atm... We're just guessing.

Must admit I'm warmer to the idea of 532 as I seriously miss us controlling the MF and wouldn't be massively keen to be team that consisted of 90% winger-style play.

This is why I rate de Ketelaere higher. He can make a goal for himself more than Vlahovic.

Is he a CF though? Looks more like a CAM to me... Don't get me wrong, he looks like he has everything and more for that position, but I couldn't see him playing up front.
Definitely a striker.

Plays CF for Club Brugges and normally RW for Belgium.

He looks quite slight but I was very impressed with his hold up play with his back to goal. Against PSG, Marquinhos and particularly Kimpembe struggled to get the ball off him.

The problem is if you are playing a front 2 then you need Kane and Son to be fit and ready every game. We have no cover and Scarlett clearly isn’t ready.

Defence: defence we have Rodon, Romero, Tanganga, Dier and Sanchez which can cover the
back 3. Nice to upgrade but do have players

Wing backs: Emerson and possibly Bergwijn on the right with Sess, Regulion on the left, we are fine.

Midfield/wing: Ndombele, Skipp, Lo Celso, Winks, Hojbjerg, Dele, Lucas, Bergwijn. We do need at least one other midfielder.

Attack: just Kane and Son.

Attack is the are we have least depth so little competition or cover for injuries.
