Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Fascinating two months upcoming and if you’ve been paying attention you can see one side (Conte/Paratici) beginning to line up their brigades and trebuchets in preparation for battle.

Make no mistake, Conte and Paratici have absolutely zero to gain from ENIC penny pinching, they can both walk at any moment and get a top job anywhere in Europe. Levy has nothing over them. They’ll align against Levy/Cullen/Caplehorn and the ENIC insiders if it’s required.

Conte’s comments tonight are a shot across ENIC’s bow, there are acceptable excuses for inaction in January. He doesn’t care how “hard” it is.

This is also clear from another obvious chess move this week from Conte/Paratici, their very well documented in person training ground meeting with DiMarzio. You don’t think they gave him an off the record briefing on expectations and transfer plans? Then they publicly posed for pictures with him to say this guy knows us and can be trusted. A message to the fans.

Watch very closely going forward what DiMarzio, Romano, and other Italian journalists report compared to what’s coming out of the standard English media. Any differentiation will be the first signs of behind the scenes turmoil.

Conte and Paratici know they have Levy over the barrel. It’s a miracle we pulled Conte after Pochettino, Mourinho, Mason, two month coaching search, Nuno debacle. They hold all the cards against Levy, they are the only things keeping the fans from Levy’s throat. Levy’s only card is his own shamelessness, which admittedly is quite significant.

Every Spurs fan knows the score, if you can’t make it work with Conte, then you’re even more unfit than most of us think. Conte won’t hesitate to use the media to his advantage like he did tonight, in a very mild fashion by his standards, and 95% of fans will take his side.

The battlelines are drawn and Levy has minuscule margin of error and nowhere to hide. If nothing moves in January, it’s just a matter of time until Conte and Paratici are out and the fans will be in full revolt.

Honeymoon period over. I like Conte but im doubtful anything will change until ENIC put their money where their mouth is and invest in the first 11. This bullshit smoke and mirrors of hiring expensive managers fools a lot of people but not me. Some fans are so easily fooled

I'm not sure anybody is fooled. We should all be happy to have Conte, but we know he needs serious backing in the transfer market. Levy's only done half a job, he's got the right man but now he has to give him the tools to work with.

I think all we can hope for is that Conte manages to get the absolute maximum out of the 12/13 half decent players we have up until January and then come January the majority of this dross gets flogged and Levy actually spends some money and gets in some new players which I know sounds easier said than done but I'd be so so surprised if Conte doesn't get backed as there's no way he would have taken this job on.

You should be writing for the Atheltic mate that was fantastic reading

Appreciate a lot of what's said here

But let's be honest , if Levy fails to back Conte & he leaves , what is really going to happen as a consequence to Levy and Enic ?

A few bed sheet protest banners ? some mild booing of Levy's name at home matches ?

Nothing worse than that , we could let Conte walk and replace him with Sol Campbell and at least 50,000 morons would still turn up for the next league game and buy a beer & burger for 20 quid or whatever they are charging these days

There are no real consequences for Enic and therefore no real motivation to spend what's needed to fix this mess of a squad

he needs 200 mill at least, levy wont give him that, we need to get rid of every player, and refresh the side
We all know a full overhaul is needed tbf.

Will take three windows, but the team we will have after the summer window will be far, far more competitive than present.

This is conte's pre-season.

Identify the shite, start to chip away at it in January; take huge chunks out of it in the summer and round it off the following window,

There's no one window fix for the dire situation we're in with this squad.

One thing I would say is that these players with a shit manager (Nuno) had the underlying stats of a team battling relegation. A drift towards that part of the table is something Levy/Lewis might fear enough to do the necessary to keep a good manager (Conte) from walking out the door.

I guarantee you that Levy is far too deluded to even consider the possibility that we could get relegated

Just a first game the players let him down and he’s fucking furious. Good.
End of treating games of football as little inconvenience during their fully paid luxury hotspur way spa holidays.

Thing is as much as nuno wasn't the right manager, it does make me feel sorry for him a bit- he really was working with a pile of shit.....of course not a good enough manager to ever improve the situation, but if you think us playing crap was mainly down to him think again, about 3/4 of our squad is dog shite
Disagree.

Why you don't blame Nuno for not causing more problem, the sympathy is misplaced for a yes man who was happy to get string attached by his bosses, and ready to lie to the fans.

He didn't even try to play the football he knows. Instead he had us played a fake Spurs DNA football he doesn't even know. All because he's scared of his boss demand.
