Phillips would be fantastic, you have to be incredibly fit to play for Bielsa's Leeds and he had also played well in England's 3-4-3 this summer. It'd be nice if we could give them Dele or Winks plus cash lol

Yes .. he played a deep role for Liverpool where his role was to receive the ball, shield it and lay it off to teammates, as is the job of pretty much all of Liverpool's midfield 3. Be workmanlike, keep it simple, and get it out wide to Trent/Robertson.

For the Netherlands where he plays further up he has a good scoring record, and he did for Newcastle too where he played more advanced. He's capable of it, he just didn't need to do it at Liverpool due to their style of play.

Not knocking it.... My recollection of him with the dippers was him often cropping up with a timely goal here or there....

P:42 / G:5 / A:3 in the CL too; so roughly the same average.

Sorry, thought you were questioning the ratio!

And yeah, he had a big goal in him for sure. The only even slight worry would be whether he's struggling because of his own decline or it's just PSG being PSG. I lean towards the former since it's happened pretty much as soon as he joined there.

Nah, hardly fair to considering he's not really an AM.

PSG wankery + style of football, I'd guess.....

Does he? He played in a cm3 at Liverpool (and at Newcastle I think). One of the reasons he’s not getting game time is Poch plays a CM2 at PSG, no?
I always feel like a 2 man MF requires “good all rounders” for want of a better term.

Wijnaldum has the work rate and defensive discipline for a 2 man MF, whilst also offering an ability to join the attack and make runs into the box. He’s comfortable passing through a press too.

He isn’t a creative player by any means, but I think he’s a very decent shout for a 343.

He’s also, of course, a bit of a known quantity in PL terms.

It doesn't mean Conte wants to play 3-4-3 for longer than this season or until january
Maybe at the moment the best formation for the player he has
So it could be possible that he will switch the system until he gets the right players

I don't want Kessie or Mckennie I've watched both closely. They are not the massive upgrade some think. Can we try a few technically gifted and astute players. We need a prototype Modric style footballer. And a Centerforward.
If we are looking for a Modric-style footballer, maybe we could go for Luca Modric at Real Madrid. He has all the attributes I think you are looking for and is out of contract in the summer...

for its going to be hard to move players on
think we are already max'd out on loan players
so if we out a Club trained/home grown need to bring in the same
outing GLC or Nodembele will need to be cheap but with "extras" in the transfer to try to get most of our money back
Davidson can go but we need a Left footed CH in his place
