Agreed. But we are shit at this as well, let's be honest.

Our colossal-failure-duo of Lo Celso+Ndombele being living proof of it.

Also up to now there are more recent examples of Bergwijn and Royal about quality of scouting for players who should be in contention to start and push us further.
royal is an easy target, but he was bought as RB and with conte he has to play RWB, showing lack of quality when he attacks (oh really?!) but he is good in defending. maybe with a proper RWB he will play as RCB
GLC+ tanguy represent a colossal failure, I agree, but their problem is not concerning technical skills, they are simple too weak from a mental point of view, and it's difficult to understand for our scouting. maybe they should do a psychologic test before signing a new player

Well... duh you need also phycological profiling of players.
Which should be nearly equal in importance to the footballing skills.

We've all seen Ravel Morrisons, Adel Taarabt, Bojan Krkic etcetc, who can be talented footballers but nutcases at the same time. And on the other end of spectrum you can see likes of Kane, who at same age as first list members was no-one playing lower league football but whose mindset and hunger to improve got him here. Without very brilliant physical charecteristics.

And literally - finding out attitude problems for Ndombele was hardly a hard task. Simple googling would have done the trick, as his former coaches have questioned his attitude.

1) Yeah, with most of the other teams paying big wages in our own league. We can pay big wages but not to the point where players will join us specifically for the money ala Newcastle or a rising City. We pay in line or less with our competitors, all of whom are doing better on the pitch.

2) But yeah, I agree, hence the we need to find gems comment. But I don't trust the scouts to do that at all given their previous results. But whilst I know people hate to hear this, January is hard and nobody is really selling their best talents, so for now someone like Traore for 20m would be a good impact signing.

1) Well I agree that we don't overpay likes of other big 6 clubs, but for most part we can match them. So while I agree that this is not something that puts us front of this bunch, it does not leave us too far behind either. So, not advantage but not really disadvantage either.

2) Thats partly what I am saying - we are financially strong enough to absolutely kick in the door for tens of clubs in top leagues who are in position where they don't most likely qualify for CL and are not threatened to get relegated. We could march in and pick the player we need, but that assumes two things - right scouting, so that we would identify the correct targets + willingness to pay for WHAT WE NEED instead of paying WHAT IS AVAILABLE. Recently we have not really been doing it....

3) What concerns this "good impact signing" part - I disagree. This is once more doing the same mistake again- picking WHAT IS AVAILABLE instead of WHAT WE NEED. This is and has been a problem, so it ain't gonna be a solution. If you spunk 20 mil + HIGHISH WAGES (!!) it means that you either tie your arms with long term commitment for questionable talent or you make shorter contract and risk losing this transfer fee. It does not make sense to me really. If our alternatives are either getting questionable player in or giving more playing time for likes of Gil, White or Paskotši (played well during preseason in RB and has played RWB for senior national team) - then I easily pick the latter one. We don't need to spend on unfitting players just for sake of spending.

We need Adama before Woolwich game.

Son injured, Bergwijn’s mind must already be in Amsterdam… we need something different to support Kane and Lucas
Adama will be absolutely shit in that role behind Kane that Son/Bergwijn plays.

He could be good if signed to be converted into a RWB to replace Emerson, but it’s still a big could because his crossing is pretty woeful from what I can see.

Why we don’t stop acting the cunt and actually just, you know, sign an ACTUAL right wing back and an ACTUAL attacking midfielder/wide forward rather than this pathetic cheap square pegs into round holes approach is is a mystery that unfortunately seems perpetually unsolvable.

Are you crazy? He has no defensive potential whatsoever. He just fucking stands when there’s a loose ball, let along tracking runners…..so change could to won’t 😂
