I actually don't mind an Adama/Emerson combo for RWB role.

They're both athletic in different ways; Adama should be first choice as his acceleration means we will be threatening even on the back foot, and he can create space for others.
And Emerson is solid, one of the most tackles/minutes in the PL so far this season. Reliable back up, which Aurier/Doherty never were.

But they both lack true technical ability, unlike Trent or Reece James. Altho tbh so does Lamptey, who would be the Adama alternative (he's so fast but not that many goals/assists). So we need to make up for that by buying an incisive skilful midfielder to replace Ndombele/ Dele.

I absolutely oppose this line of thinking.

We should not take on players that obviously lack technical ability and then try to immidately compensate for that?!?

I have had enough of technically poor players. Spurs has enough of technically poor players. With new recruitment we should improve on that instead of buying additional inadequate players who lack any kind of passing and crossing ability.

Okay, that is a fair point.

But who do you have in mind?
Even Lamptey for example, has great athleticism, but his final delivery and shot is not that great. Livramento looks sharp, but even he has 0 assists so far.
Mazraoui seems to be the only elite option with technical ability, but he's closely linked with Barca.

He's 29 years old.
We should be using Conte's pull to attract players we couldn't otherwise, promising players under 25.

It's January. None of the real top talents out there are moving, and if they are then they're going for extortionate prices. We don't need to hit the panic button this window, I'd rather we tide ourselves over now and then if we don't see backing in the summer we have a problem.

Lingard is much better than Bergwijn, 29 yes but HG and a player who we know from last season can add goals and assists, as well as fitting Conte's philosophy due to his work rate. For next to no fee, as a Bergwijn swap? Easy decision, good squad player and re-invest the Bergwijn money in the summer in to a starting player.

I think as a loan to by time he at the very least gives us more than anyone to back up the front 3, and arguably starts.

In a 352 I think he gives us more as the spare CM than any of Ndombele, Lo Celso and Dele.

He's out of contract at the end of the season anyway.....

But yeh, anyone that can come in and impact us like he did WH last Jan would be a welcome boost.

9 goals 4 assists for West Ham last season, within 16 games. If he came in and even contributes half that he's immediately about 4x as productive as the likes of Bergwijn. He was the big reason West Ham had a renewed push for CL last season.

It would be a no brainer on reasonable wages.

Comrades!

What is happening at our beloved club is truly shameful and utterly disgraceful. Borderline criminal!

We need to eradicate the worm maggot now

Pretty sure Utd would expect us to cover his full wage (130kpw IIRC).... Which would be fair enough.

One would have to wonder if they'd be prepared to loan us a player given we're in direct competition for top 4 though.

I'd be happy with Lingard, especially if he turns up like he did at West Ham. Its a World Cup year as well so needs to play.

Not sure why we are waiting for the summer, when it becomes a bidding war. Reckon we could get him for £10-15m now easy.
