Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Give it a rest.

Diaz chose Liverpool to go to, not because of money, it was his choice. Traore has been pleading with Barcelona to go back there for a year. Nothing to do with Spurs bid
Why were wasting time then since last summer on him if he never wanted to come here? Especially now when he was gonna be converted to rwb which obvs didn’t appeal to him either!

I didn't expect it when he joined but, considering it's already in our own hands, and we've had a better window than the 3 clubs we're competing with..... i'm starting to expect that we will finish in the top 4.

We've technically added 2 players to our squad and got rid of 3 that haven't even been considered as options recently.

Arse and United have done nothing but unload players. While West Hams squad is already thin and they haven't added either.
Which is your right. I just feel it’s very harsh on conte to blame him if we don’t get 4th.

I think most Spurs fans want genuine, indisputable upgrades who come in and can be immediately expected to improve the team. I don't think that this is an unreasonable expectation (Or wouldn't be, at almost any other club with our revenue streams) but it appears that is the way some feel. If we had such a window, I'm almost certain the fans would applaud it.

Some are unhappy yet have reasonable expectations....... They fit your description. Others; not so much.

i hate levy with all my heart with how we dropped from 2017 to now

its a crime on this great football club

I think that there is a unrealistic nostalgia as to how good we were back then.

- Pep took over City in 2016. After a season of rebuilding, they were ready to compete in 2017.
- Liverpool signed Salah; and had signed Mane the season before.
- Chelsea had just got Conte.

I'm not sure sure that we have declined - its more that the teams around us got significantly better and we have stood still and not signed players good enough to take us to the next level.

Yeah, I get that. I just don't feel comfortable with this portrayal of all fans who aren't content as being spoiled/overly demanding. For the most part I think our fanbase have been very patient given how we've operated in the market over the years. Christ, look at Woolwich fans even when they spent 120m+ in a window.

I don't think we did badly considering it's Jan, but wouldn't say we did well either. It was fine. I'm mostly happy with the outgoings because it feels like that's been so long overdue. The incomings are underwhelming (imo) but I understand others are more optimistic on that front.

Think it's a bit of both, you're right that those teams got better but we also finished behind Leicester and West Ham last year. In 16/17 we lost just FOUR games, we're only halfway through this season and we have lost six, lost 12 last season, 11 in 19/20, 13 in 18/19.

Got sent a clip of a popular Juventus fan who does fan videos/streams. He basically said Paratici has done more for Juventus while working at Tottenham than he did in his last few years at Juventus. Said the Bentancur was a 10/10 deal for them as he couldn’t pass forward and was a non-entity.

He did however say he was a little sad about Kulu going but that it was probably deserved. Overall they’re calling it a 10/10 window and love Paratici for it, so uh .. encouraging.

Pinch of salt and all that - I don't think there's been a fan forum that hasn't slagged off a departing player when they're about to be sold (and combine that with shiny toy syndrome where they'll assume the new guys can give them a moon on a stick).

But in our case slagging off said departing player is warranted when it's Ndombele, obviously.

Too many Levy sympathisers. Ask what the price is, show the money and get the signature, it doesn't take 3 weeks. If a player or club hasn't signed after you agreeing to what they want, turn and go. It means they were never interested in you.

There were a host of other players we could've tried to get instead of wasting 3/4 of a window one player.

Levy uses this tactic to make people think, "Oh he tried". Always low balling, knowing he isn't really trying to get the player.
Let's try this one more time:
We agreed terms with Porto
Liverpool matched the terms
Diaz preferred Liverpool

If we offered more, he would have just stayed put until the summer to wait for Liverpool. I mean, how hard is this to grasp???

Fairs. I am saying that January transfer window is very hard, just look how our rivals did. It wasn't easy for any of them.

No good centre forward option in the market and Doherty just didn't go away.

Average window. 7/10.

In fairness I went back a bit through some of his older videos (he basically runs a Juve fan channel) and he’s had these views for a long time. They legitimately mostly seem delighted these players have gone.

Doesn’t mean they’re right of course, fans are wrong all the time. But it’s hard to get excited about signing players another struggling club are thrilled to be rid of.

I can only speak for myself; but as per my last post; I don't buy that blanket appraisal any more than you do.

There's no doubt in my mind however, that it's the most extreme end of the discontent scale that are responsible for things feeling as poloraised as they so often do. This faction simply refuse to accept nuance or middle ground......... The whole "if you don't condemn ENIC at every turn, you are an enemy of the club" attitude is a cancer.

For the most part I think our fanbase have been very patient given how we've operated in the market over the years. Christ, look at Woolwich fans even when they spent 120m+ in a window.

Again, my net feelings balance out similar to yours.... However the outgoings don't impress me as much as the potential good that the new lads might bring us......... Ironic, cos the above faction would have people believe that those that aren't fuming are all gushing about the wage savings(*).

(*mid-season; I couldn't give a shit!).

All in all, mildly positive, but I'd have liked another player.

Aside from a few Sky dickheads; most media seem to be pretty positive about our window.

The proof will always be in the pudding; so in the meantime no point getting too emoted either way.

When people talk in such extremes it’s clear that their words are fuelled by a desire for dramatic effect or a lack of nuance rather than wisdom or insight.
