Everyone is going to have a different opinion and in the case of Romero and Gabriel I have only watched them for 5-6 games. If I was to rate the back line in order I would go the below.

1 Romero
2 Gabriel
3 Dier
4 White
6 Tierney/Regulion (both have weaknesses)
7 Davies
8 Emerson/Tomiyasu

Not much difference to me. Big diff is the managers, Conte has had only a short time but I expect him to get more out of his defenders than Arteta.

No way is Dier above White in my view. I also think putting Davies above Tomiyasu is a little homerish as well.

Any chance we can bring Eva Carneiro over also ....

That's the "Bend over and cough" gloves that

Dier has been good for us under Conte, we have badly missed him when he is out, White is ok but not really much either way for me. . Tomiyasu has a few good games but also bad games for Woolwich. Davies is reliable if very unspectacular.

Only defender out of the lot that truly seriously impressed me ability wise is Romero and he got fucking injured for months. Rest can all be upgraded to some degree.

Our (Poch's) radar was on players like De Ligt & De Jong whom already had eyes for bigger clubs.... He was shooting for high grade, so-called 'sure-thing' youngsters to mold into his image (Also see Sanchez, Ndombele, GLC & Sess).
Sure, and I would have been worried that by settling for "mid range" I end up with another Sissoko or Nkoudu, and feel like "why bother"

Poch played to his strength, put him in attack and give him licence to roam and create havoc. We all see Dele in CM, he is slow and indecisive, he needs to be the guy behind the striker and given freedom. It’s the only way he can play, he is a very specialist player.
I genuinely think Lamps will get the best out of him. He's perfectly placed to do so, seen how he was such an incredible goalscoring MFer himself. I really wouldn't be surprised if Dele got back to a level where he's scoring 10-15 a season and coming back into the England fold.

It'd be good for us too cause we'd be getting lots of money from EFC in bonuses.

As long as he doesn't score against us, I'm cool with it 😁

Yeh I think Lampard will do well with him but they are in a mess. I wouldn’t expect Dele to be killing it for a while, this season it’s about not getting relegated.

They've still got a pretty decent squad. If Franky can sort out their defence, they've got the goods to do some damage upfront.

I mean, they can now play Donny at CM with either Allan, Doucoure, Gomes...obviously fitness has been an issue, but once they're all healthy, that's not a bad midfield.

And up top, they can play Dele off DCL, with the likes of Richarlison and Andros on the wings. Rodon and El Ghazi aren't the worst subs either.

I wouldn't mind them stealing a few points of our direct competitors for Top 4 😁

Dier hasn't been good at all under Conte, but I know many fans want to pretend that he has.

For me White has all the same faults as Dier but much higher upside as well that is why I think he is above Dier. Both flawed players but at least White has some positives, Dier is just crap.

I don't rate Davies as being reliable at all, I think he some how got that reputation and now no matter what happens people say he is reliable.

I agree I think Romero is clearly a step above the others.

Why is White better than Dier, what's the upside you talk of. Him being younger?

He ability to pass and progress the ball is to me the big advantage he has on Dier. I also think he is a much better defender but I know people want to overrate Dier and hate White since he is at Woolwich.

Dier on the ball is a nightmare. He will try long balls but absolutely sucks at it. White at least has some competence when playing the ball which is important in today's game with how most teams play.

Both have errors in them, neither are steady, but White has some positives to his game while Dier has zero.

I don't think there is much difference between the two to be honest and White hasn't really played at higher Level than Dier yet.

Really don't think Diers passing is as bad as you seem to think it is.

Sure Dier can make a mistake but his all round game is at a good level

The fact that you were lurking around in another thread passing judgement on anyone else being biased is fucking ridiculous!

Many blamed Rednapp, many Blamed Poch, many blamed Jose, many Blamed Nuno and many will blame Conté.

Stockholm syndrome. People feel sorry for Levy because Liverpool stole Diaz and Barca stole Traore. He is such a Great Chairman. He hired Conté. He showed us he really Loves us. Nuno over sold his CV to poor Levy. José publicly humiliates Levy. Poch was ungrateful and started to challenge him. Poor Levy. He built a stadium for us and then COVID came along......

Poor Levy he really cares about TFC
Get some help, mate.

Please explain - same faults, higher upside - just words with no context.

Let me start you off -

White is a relative CB midget who can barely heads the ball - Dier is 6 cm taller and considered good in the air ..... Dier hardly ever tackles - White is the top tacking player at Woolwich

Was that what you meant by 'all the same faults' ??????????

No Dier is tall but sucks in the air. Who considers him good in the air? He is terrible for his height.

Dier hardly ever tackles because he rarely is around the players he is supposed to be covering as he loves letting them run free.

Same faults is that both seem to switch off defensively leaving guys open. Neither is looked at as a good defenders that you would reliably want marking top players.

Another 'Levy Masterclass'. We can all celebrate this window. We lost Traore for 5 million. We Lost Diaz for 5million and we probably gona loose Djed Spence for 3 million. Levy really has a knack of making it look like we are actually bidding, when we actually have no intention of buying.

Two signings. Both not considered the best in their previous club.

What have we learnt?

1) The more things change, the more they stay the same .
2) The Leopard will not change his spots.
3) Top 4 to us, equates to winning the League.
4) Even with Conté, we still are extremely Spursy.

Ah so it's just "your opinion" which is fair enough, obviously not supported by any facts, data or statistics ..... so just another whining post to ignore.
