Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Somewhat more from one side than the other though, my friend.
:dierpochhug:

There are those of us who think our great club could and should always aspire to be the best. We certainly have the resources to do so much more.

And those with the little old Tottenham fighting above its weight mentality who think we should be grateful for every crumb or morsal ENIC feed to the peasants.
:contebored:
Are you telling me you aren't an ENIC fanboy?? You don't cheer at our bottom line and annual gross figures? Our prudent frugality?

The list of honours goes on and on. Skywalk, climbing wall, diving tank, a big Sainsburys, 'affordable' homes...it's one triumph after another. Plus we even have NFL and concerts.

Admittedly I'm still saving up for a trip to the Google head office to do a solo Mexican wave to celebrate the success of their directors.

We all want what's best for the club.

Seems like the gritty realist gang vs the higher expectations outfit at times.

Could be a lot worse, but it could definitely be a lot better. I don't think that's a controversial statement for anyone on here.
Exactly. Nuance. Balance. Glass half empty/full.

My previous post may have sounded harsh and I do apologise if I hurt anybody's feelings (looking at you Deuterz Deuterz 😉) but the "we can do no wrong" on one side and "everything is shit" on the other, them takes do end up getting on one's nerves.

The reality is what you said, it wasn't perfect but it could've been a lot worse. If we could all go to bed tonight having agreed on that, that'd avoid a few ulcers and TFC spats (once again, looking at you Deuterz Deuterz 😉).

I'd describe myself more of half way house kind of guy. Bit of a fence sitter but leaning slightly towards ENIC out.

I think age has an impact too. Not in any sort of patronising way. Older fans might have enjoyed some of the success from the 60s or 80s. Those like me endured the 90s and really haven't seen any success in 30 years. Younger fans have enjoyed some of our more successful league performances and a CL Final, so probably see us as generally a good team.

All the aggro about the club on here is because we are passionate about Spurs, albeit in different ways.

I'm honestly not sure they would. I remember fans being pretty happy with the big Ndombele/GLC window. Had we brought in Diaz, Traore and Bentancur I imagine the vast majority on here would be saying it was a positive window. The one we actually got has plenty of room to be criticised without sound like a greedy/entitled fan.

How about top 10?!

I'll support Spurs regardless, even if we were sat in league one. But I want us to do the best we can. Don't feel depressed/angry in the slightest, simply giving what I feel is a fair, reasoned opinion on where we're realistically at by signing these players. Same with the people who feel differently to me and think they're gonna be great.

I get that. The Diaz signing I never really allowed myself to get excited for anyway (always felt a roadblock was ahead..) and the truth is once Liverpool came in we were always going to be second best. I'm comfortable with that fact.

You too.
I too expected better and I too felt a little underwhelmed with just them two. And yeah there are definitely question marks based on how they fared at Juve of late.

But it's not like we've not been there before with Spurs. It's what we do. We should do more, and not just where transfers are concerned, but for some reasons we never go all in. And at the end we get what we put in. I totally get how fucking frustrating it can be. Believe you me, I'm not one of those that is always 100% positive about everything just for the sake of it. Like I said earlier, I've done my fair share of complaining about the club over the years.

I just think that at some point, you've gotta accept the cards you've been dealt. And if you are truly unhappy with the way the club is run, then do something real about it as opposed to moaning and moaning and moaning again on here.

I'm actually genuinely concerned for some on here who seem to really take it to heart and that the fact that the club isn't doing as well as they think it should, it looks like it's actually impacting on their mental state. When it gets to that, you need to put it on pause. It's only fucking football.

Onwards and upwards.

COYS

No one here is recommending not supporting the team or booing the team or anything like that at all. Youve created a scenario in your head which doesnt exist.
I think maybe you oughta read my post again in the morning, with a clear head, cause you clearly didn't get my point.

Reading my subsequent posts may help too.

All I was saying was, what good does it do (to the club and to themselves) to always complain and see everything as shit.

It was my way - and I accept it may not have been the best/most subtle - to say let's all chill the eff out. It's not all super great as some claim it to be, but it is nowhere near being the catastrophe the doom gang make it out to be. So yeah in a nutshell I tried to bring some sort of nuance to the war that had been going on on the thread the past few hours.

If I sounded like a dick and offended anybody including yourself, I apologise, it wasn't the intention.

Peace and good night.

You win.

Voice of reason.

I wish there was a button to make you like the grand kahuna for one day.

Good night my fellow Spud 😊

Someone said the new guys needed to prove themselves so......

Seen how things have been going on the thread tonight...

Some on here will say: "Thank you Master Levy for bringing the new Zidane to Spurs. You are a God to me."

Others will say: "So what, he scored a goal for Uruguay. Big fucking deal. Probably was a a shite one and if he was very good, he'd score two. Gonna flop at Spurs for sure."

The truth is probably in the middle, as always 🤣

God what a pile of utter shite. Comparing signing two benched players from a Juventus side happy to get rid to signing genuine stars. Insulting fans who have legitimate doubts which are regularly proven correct. Going on about our FA cup chances as if we didn't get absolutely embarrassed by Chelsea in both legs of the carabao cup.

You're not a better fan, or a real fan just because you're ultra optimistic about every aspect of the club. Stop sniffing your own farts and get over yourself. Sugarcoating fucking everything to a ludicrous degree is just tiresome.
But 100% at a game everyone would rather sit next to him than anywhere near a miserable whining sod like you - just saying.

Personally I have no way to judge the window. We signed two players that I have never really seen play. Personally I am more worried about squad planning going on at the club at the moment. I do not see the plan I feel the Juventus pair were signed in response to not getting Diaz and Traore.

I have watched a few Juve analysis videos from earlier this month and they do not seem too fussed about the two players leaving. That does not mean anything because I have seen people who have thrown abuse at Dele online mourning his leaving.

There is one thing I know about Spurs is that Levy is completely incompetent in the transfer market. When appointing a Director of Football he expect miracles and no person in football gets it 100% right. I am very worried what Levy’s vision is for the club and if we do not make Champions League will we fail to invest in the future.

I haven't seen anyone say that we've had a brilliant window, most seem to all say it's around a 6/10, which is exactly my feelings. Nor has anyone mentioned any Levy masterclass. The only people I keep seeing bring up Levy are a few who are adamant that he's the reason why we didn't get Taore and Diaz, which for once isn't the case.

But lets just say we got both those guys in as well, would you have been happy? While it would've been great to get Diaz in, it still wouldn't have fixed the holes at CF, CM, and even RWB. Doesn't matter how you look at it Traore at RWB would've been a gamble.

What were you expecting to get out of this window? Because as far as I'm concerned we're still in the running for top 4, which is what everyone was hoping to get out of this season. You're delusional if you thought that us getting more players in now would've given us a shot at the league title this year.
When You think small, You can't win Big. Of Course I want to win the League this year. Or at least strive for it. Your mentality is exactly why Spurs is sitting where we are. 6/10 is Good Enough for you? But I understand. You ask for what more I wanted this window? What about any of the following, 'CF, CM, and even RWB'. No where have I seen that exact words....... Oh it was under the need section in your comments. I can understand being a supporter, but blindly supporting makes me wonder.

TBF there's being "underwhelmed" and then there's numptys declaring that they "couldn't be more depressed".......

Then we have the guy that you're (inadvertently?) defending; who in consecutive posts said Conte wanted them but we shouldn't have bought them.

And lastly, Gazzapen Gazzapen spewing straight made-up bollocks and then playing the "You luv Levy" card to people with with ENIC-out avatars....

......All utter bilge that deserves to be ridiculed at best.
Then you need stop pressing the dislike button whenever someone says something about Levy. He is a Great businessman but an equally Great Shitty FC Chairman.
