Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The overwhelming likelihood is that Conte has tried this in training and it hasn't worked. We only see a tiny % of what goes on at the club. I don't buy for a second that the man who used Perisic/Young as wing backs wouldn't have tried wingers there when we have the utterly useless Emerson at RWB.

IMO he's tried it and the players don't work there .. which doesn't really surprise me.

Again, I'm not taking about starting line-ups.....

Taking a risk and putting more attacking players on in one last roll of the dice to save points is nothing unfathomable...... You honestly think we were better off with Emerson on than an extra winger????

Worst case scenario (us conceeding) actually happened anyway.

Nothing worse than watching a desperate situation and the manager just standing there watching, seemingly completely unaware of what's happening in front of his very eyes.

Gareth Southgate did it to us vs Croatia and Italy. I'll never forgive him for it. Conte has done it a number of times now.

We had enough attackers on the pitch to win the game. Throwing on lots of attackers is a very popular tactic with fans but not one managers go with often. I don't think at that point a hail mary was necessary, we have top players who can produce moments, and a point would have been valuable.

Dunno. Maybe. I assume Conte knows their ability in that role way better than I do and he's not tried it once, I can only say there's probably a reason for that.

Because our players were clowns and gift wrapped a goal. Also just sort of watched Brighton pass it about, which more attackers wouldn't have solved. We lost because the attitude + focus from minute one was terrible and Brighton were organised enough to make us pay.

Difference here for me is Southgate legitimately has top options yet won't use them. Conte if he wants to shake it up in midfield has to bring on Winks and if he wants to change up the wing backs he has to bring on some wingers who get like 3-4 goals a season. There's no back up CF and there's no creative options at all.

Only one person at the club is to blame for that.

He could have an extra attacker if sub”d one of the defenders. Was stayed inthe match thread we didn’t need 5 defenders as the game went on and we needed a goal. Exactly what benefit did the WBs provide yday! Simple back 4 would have allowed an extra attacker on the pitch. We could have switched to 424 system if necessary. However Conte is a cautious coach and not one for taking risks plus he only picks the sane players. May be he needs to think outside the box. Whatever it is we need a spark from somewhere in games like yday and that ain’t coming from the WBs. Everyone knows they are crap but conte persists with them!

What the heck does 'field tilt' and PPDA mean? Asking for a friend;)

PPDA = Passes per defensive action, means how quick you are to press your opponent. If it's a low number like 5 it means you allow 5 passes from the other team on average from a goal kick beofre winning the ball back, if it's 15 for example then you start a press much later to win the ball back.

Unsure what field tilt means, I assume it's to do with average area where the ball is played on the pitch or something
