They might have more of a budget but they seems even more chaotic and uncontrollable than us tbh.

Mbappe off next season, Messi is basically washed, win CL or get fucked, etc etc. At least at Spurs the manager has the respect of the players and the leadership.

This game emphasized how important Conte is to this current Tottenham squad and raised his stock even higher for me. But it also showed some of his drawbacks.

Conte had Covid this week and has not been able to train and drill our team like he has for the past few weeks. This performance looked more like when we were playing 3 games a week and there wasn't much time for coaching.

To me this game just shows how much extra Conte can get from this squad of players when he is healthy enough to coach them. The results of the 7 PL games before Brighton (6W 1L) would just not be possible with a non-elite manger with the squad we have.

However, this game also showed the drawbacks of Conte's ridged philosophy and substitution approach. Even when it was clear that we were not on top, because of the way Conte coaches we don't really have a plan B so our substitutes can be very like for like, which makes it more difficult to turn the game around.

We need a good summer window if we want to do things next year, particularly competing in Europe giving us less time for Conte to train players as much above their normal ability.

Great post. But actually that is why Conte did not resort to a plan B : he knows too, and the players would just get the wrong message if he had resorted to changing things. Better to keep it as is, prove again why Winks is not starting games, and play the way way - but better - next game.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he has made
Contact with PSG but I would be surprised if he left if ENIC backed him though. If we spend £250m in the summer and get 6-8 good players then I expect Conte to stay, if we go cheap then Conte will just have his back up options to fuck off then Poch will most likely be back.

I still think Conte stays if we properly back him and that includes if we come 5th. If ENIC don’t bring in investment and support him then I do expect him to leave and if that is the case nobody should be surprised.

It’s also funny how this story has come out now Ten Hag has been confirmed at Man Utd, because I wonder which job Poch will be linked with next 🙄
 
This could be total bollocks but i really dont understand these top managers. If you've won a ton of trophies, made enough money to last several lifetimes then why wouldnt you want to test yourself? Go somewhere you'll be remembered as a legend not just a 1 or 2 year gun for hire . It always seems to be the easy, almost lazy, option with the likes of Pep, Conte etc. Its all a bit easy going to the usual where you can spend £400m in 1 summer. Having said that he deserves backing here so could understand if we're doing our kids, frees and 1 year left of contract approach again.

tbh, it's essential that Conte remains for the sake of stability and progress at the club. If Conte were to leave so soon after the situation with Mou and Nuno, it would leave a dark cloud over the club.

Questions about Levy, the board, players would be all over the press, it would lead to chaos, and make it very difficult to get new players.
 
Never seen so much gossip regarding a manager.

If there was any proper truth in it, the English media would be all over it, as would Romano. I expect the whole summer to be this way as well, with Conte and Kane.

If we back him with 6-8 good players that can at least as a dark horse challenge City and Liverpool and he leaves that will show a lack of character in Conte.

If on the other hand we mess around and provide to little or offer up mediocrity then I can fully understand him leaving.

This backing must not be dependent on CL football either. Give Conte a bounty of good players and if he leaves then it will look bad on him, take away the excuse of ‘’I wasn’t backed’’.
