Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think the report has zero basis. Le Parisien are anti-Pochettino, just go look at their reporting from their UCL exit and also when they finished 2nd last season. They want to try to unsettle Conte and get Tottenham to sign Poch back. I guarantee the French media knows fuck all of Conte's intentions
I sincerely hope you are right.
But Conte has form for jumping ship.
I will be as sick as a seaside donkey if he leaves and I def don't want Poch back.

What is Conte's motivation?
If he goes to PSG he can buy the best players. Money will be no object. He can get Lukaku.
Or he stays here. Why should he feel an emotional attachment to THFC?
I hope he does but at the end of the day it's a job.

Stylistically. Another case of my lying eyes telling me that we've played far better under Conte, especially the longer he's been with us.
:contebored:

Spurs covered fewer kilometres (100 per game) than any other Premier League team during Nuno’s reign, but now they cover more (115 per game) than every other team. I'm guessing Jose was not much better.

This. Nice of that table of stats to omit something like this, lest it demonstrate how much fitter the squad has gotten since Conte came in (Mourinho to blame rather than Nuno on that one) and more adept at pressing.

xG would be a useful metric too. I'm guessing that also breaks their narrative.

Antonio Conte says he's starting to feel a crucial change in his Spurs players

Antonio Conte believes that his Tottenham players are starting to "hate to lose" and as simple as that sounds it will be key for their development.

Spurs' surge up the Premier League table stuttered last weekend with a flat performance at home in a 1-0 defeat to Brighton. Conte has previously said that to have a winning mentality, any defeat must hurt a lot and ahead of Saturday's game at Brentford he believes that his team are starting to show that anger.

"I think that when I speak about a winning mentality it doesn’t mean you are never going to lose. A winning mentality means you have to approach every game in the right way, to manage the game in the right way. To understand the game," he said. "I think when we speak about a winning mentality, there is a process, especially for players. They want to win something in their career as they didn’t have a win before. I always said that we improved a lot in many aspects.

"Also I'm starting to feel that the players start to hate to lose. This is very important. The process is complete when after a defeat you go to your house and you are angry. You want to play another game quickly because you want to forget the loss."

Conte fully debriefs his players after matches with extensive video work, showing them what they did correctly and what they can do better, in order to put the processes in place for improvement.

"I use video analysis after the game, because in this way you can show both situations, the positive situation, and not the negative situation, but the one that you can improve, to try to avoid next time the mistake or bad decision," he explained. "It's important to work but always in the right way because the video analysis can be used to try to improve, to avoid next time, but I don’t want to tell them about mistakes - but to make the best decision, and if you use the video in this way it is very important for the development of your team. Not to tell a player ‘it’s your fault.’ No, never. I never tell that to my players."

The Italian is still getting to know his Tottenham players but he is already aware which of them need to be pushed and which ones need to have an arm around them and that growing knowledge of his squad that could be crucial as they approach the final six matches of the season.

"Don’t forget that I have known these players only for six months. I didn't have the possibility to work with them for more time, because when you work with more time, you know everything, but when you arrive in this situation, you have to try to understand well different players," said Conte.

"Some players like to be pushed, some, if you push him, maybe he is not so good. You have to try to find the right balance to take the best of your squad, not just the team but the squad, because we have 22 players and every single player has to be involved if we want to reach the target, and you know that the player that is not going to play every game, you also have to manage that situation."

With Woolwich having won at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea on Wednesday night, the pressure is well and truly on in the race for fourth spot in the Premier League, with the two north London rivals sitting on the same amount of points but with Spurs holding a far superior goal difference. Conte believes that pressure is key to forging a successful team and the best players thrive on it.

"It’s good to live with the pressure because I don’t remember one team that fought for something important, a title, a trophy, a place in the Champions League, that did not have pressure. In my experience as a player and as a manager, when you fight for something important the pressure is with you. For this reason, you have to try to use this pressure in a positive way to help you improve the attention, the desire to do everything to win and the desire to avoid defeat," he said.

"I think this is very important. When it happens this type of situation it means you are developing a winning mentality and you are ready to reach your target. The target can be a trophy, a title, a place in the Champions League, otherwise you have to continue to work very hard and to live with this type of situation.

"Otherwise you are medium player. If you don't want to have pressure, you have to accept to play without targets and to play in the middle in the table and to enjoy only football."

Spurs will come up against former midfielder Christian Eriksen on Saturday, with the Dane starring for Brentford who have won all five matches he has started in for them since returning to fitness and sharpness following that cardiac arrest last summer at the Euros. Conte has a lot of affection for the Denmark international, who he managed at Inter, but admits he would like the player's good form to pause temporarily on Saturday.

"I repeat, in January no one knew the situation about Christian - that he could play. For sure we have to be happy and I'm the first person to be happy to see him on the football pitch and be happy to play this kind of football," he said. "Christian played here for many years, and for sure the fans appreciated him a lot and now the most important thing is that he continues to play... though on Saturday I hope he plays not so well! But only Saturday, only Saturday, ok.

"But to continue this way and to show he's Cristian Eriksen, because usually what happens in these kind of situations is the people's first question is will he come back in the same way before it happens. This, he's showing that maybe he's doing better, but I repeat I'm happy for him and his family because he has a great family. They had a bad moment and now they deserve the best."

Just shows you can say/print any old rubbish and you're never held accountable. In the meantime, you cause unrest for supporters and players. Charlatans.
We need to take note that EVERYONE of the "Spurs Fan Twitter Accounts" are the ones that are facilitating the rumour (not starting it). These arseholes are interested in one thing, themselves, they are more concerned about being the first one to post and put this above the Club.

They haven't the balls to check the story out before posting. They haven't the ability to do so because Dave from Palmers Green isn't a journalist, he's unemployed, has zero contacts in the industry and spends his time on the internet 24/7 with his finger primed over the send button.

It doesn't matter what the Tweet is, whether it's real info or bullshit, the only thing that matters is to post it, get it out there.

Why on Earth flood the fan base with this kind of story when we have 6 massive games to go? Even if there is potential truth in it it’s just a shit message to spread.

Pick one account to follow, ignore the rest, there's literally no reason to follow them all as they tweet exactly the same shit, if you have to follow all of them mute them.

These are the people/accounts that should be held accountable because without them a baseless story would never get off the ground and gain traction.

Antonio Conte asked whether he regrets not signing Christian Eriksen in January

Antonio Conte asked whether he regrets not signing Christian Eriksen for Tottenham in January

Tottenham Hotspur will come up against their former midfielder on Saturday in the Premier League and Conte will renew acquaintances with the Dane

Conte signed Eriksen for Inter Milan from Spurs in January 2020 and after a year spent adapting to a new league and the manager's demands, the Dane became an important part of the Italian's Serie A-winning side last term.

Now Tottenham boss, Conte was asked this week ahead of Saturday's match at Brentford whether the Dane's return to top level performances, having also scored in consecutive games on his international return, has surprised him and made him regret not trying to bring him back to Spurs in January.

"Honestly, no one knew the possibility of Christian coming back to football. It was a surprise for everybody," he said. "I think in this respect, Brentford was very good to understand the situation and to go into the situation, and to sign Christian. I'm really surprised but I'm not the only person surprised to see him playing in this way.

"I don't want to remember what happened to him because it makes me very sad, but to see him now playing at this level is incredible. It's amazing. I'm very happy for him. For sure, he had always great joy in playing football, but if before he was enjoying it 100%, now it's 200%.

"To go from a situation where you can't play football for the rest of your life, to playing football again, I think that makes you happy and makes you enjoy this sport, and your passion, much more. I wish for him and his family the best. They deserve it and it will be a great joy to see him on the pitch, playing and doing what he likes to do."

Conte also explained how Eriksen became an important player for him last season at Inter Milan and admitted that the Denmark international would never complain when left out of the team in the first 12 months.

"At Inter we played with a 3-5-2 and at the time Christian was used to playing at Tottenham behind a striker in a 4-2-3-1," said the Spurs head coach. "So I think he needed a bit of time to understand my idea of football, but when he did this, he became a really important player for us.

"I see at Brentford they are playing sometimes 3-5-2 or 3-4-3. And in 3-5-2, he is doing the same things he did with Inter by being their playmaker, but when you have a player with great availability to improve themselves and put themselves at the service of the team, it's easier for a manager. Christian is one of these types of player. I don't remember once that he complained when he was on the bench. A top player, a top person in every moment."

Same as the peeps here that post every solitary mention of Spurs they find in the gutters of the internet.....

Be a bit more discerning and spare the rest of us FFS!

absolutely fucked the last 2 games with his stubbornness of playing shit wing backs in a system that requires them to be quality! still watching this cunt emerson attempt to be a professional footballer!

The Sanchez substitution was just baffling. Of all the times to go to a back 4 and he does that. I don’t understand why he didn’t go for the win.
